Kumho XS is what you want.

Azenis have been surpassed for years now.

Yes, Azenis will be fine for street. 10k might be pushing it though. If you want more life, get something with a little higher tread wear rating (300+). Any "High Performance" (or better) street tire will do the trick. For street driving, you won't notice any major differences between the name brand tires. Get the one for the best price with the best wear rating and highest survey results. Go to tirerack.com for reviews and surveys.

I like General Exclaim UHP's. Great price, Great wear, decent dry grip, amazing hydroplane resistance, a little bit of a soft sidewall but that's OK. You shouldn't need that stiff of a sidewall and that soft of a tire, you're on the street not a race track. I'm sure all the professional street racers on this forum will tell you otherwise though.

It's a street car for daily driving. Not a Nationals ST car.

What I like best are the reviews on discounttiredirect for the NT-01s, that specify use as "Aggressive Street/Highway". What is that?

hey, I've been daily driving R888s since february. :p

about 9k street miles on them.. not even half worn yet. these will last longer than both the azenis 215s and the Yoko ES100s I had. I still have a lasting hate for ES100s..

Yeah I just removed a set of NT-01's from my Explorer before I traded it in on the cash for clunkers deal. Took care of those pesky e46 M3's on my commute to work.

I believe it. I've kept Z214's on my track car since April, with maybe 300 street miles. It actually doesn't do to bad, and they haven't worn at all. I probably heat cycled the shit out of them, though.

                Duh.

They're both in the same category, super sticky summer tires. Azenis are simply outdated, and the same price as XS's in 205/50/15.

yeah I probably have too, but they're basically just for the occasional HPDE/autox and I actually am saving some money this year since I cut down the # of sets of tires I need by 1/3. Plus I think they will give me some life for next summer too. :)

Well, that is because you are not driving Aggressive Street / Highway, grandpa?

I guess the NT-01s allow you to divebomb to the inside to pass an E46 M3 to get the holeshot on an exit ramp, eh? Sounds like my kind of tire!

                    jk

The XSs are priced VERY aggressively. I almost bought a set, but at the last minute sprung for the R-S3s.

well it's a little hard to pass 3 cars at a time around blind corners with the wife in the passenger seat. She tends to get a little upset. ;)
