Have I missed the point about why to stretch your tires? Is it purely for the look? Just buy rims that are wide enough to fit the widest tire you're allowed to run.
"But I want teh phat 12" wide rimz yo! But allz I can run is a 215."
Just get the right rims...
Unless of course I've been completely misinformed.

This is a pretty extreme stretch that is basically on a show car. I am showing this more extreme example as to be able to really show why some people stretch.

lets set this straight. Stretched tires serves about 3 main purpouses.
1) It gives an agressive look because its artistic design... it gives an agressive look by following the same angle that the fender has with the tire.
2) Stretching also gives less side wall flex since the tire is so "tight"
3) The stretch also allows a wider wheel to be used without having rubbing. Could you imagine the car above having a wider tire... it would be rubbing constantly.
well thats basically the reasons why stretching is done... its mostly aesthetical with a little bit of actual purpouse when it comes to fitting the wheel having a low ride height.
*A moderate stretch is not unsafe*
Stretching should be done in moderation if the car actually has purpouse to see extreme driving conditions.Comment

That's my point. Use the same tire but on a rim that isn't as wide. No rubbing, no stretching. Voila!Originally posted by propcar

but then your missing the agressive look... because the wheels wont flow with the angle of the fender flare.Originally posted by ryan_georgeThat's my point. Use the same tire but on a rim that isn't as wide. No rubbing, no stretching. Voila!Originally posted by propcar
