HRE 540 wheels MTO for my E30

Hello Guys...these are the wheels I've decided to go with. no joke. HRE 840R wheels.
I'm going to have to go 18" because they don't make a 17 in the 800R 3pc wheel series...So I'm going 18". I'm going to swap my Sachs sporting suspension kit with Ground Controls or a H&R cup kit (which is better?..or which is a better choice?) I don't know what wheel width I could fit..so I'm thinking of playing it safe with 18x7 front and 18x7.5 rears.. HRE makes wheels they way you want them. I would have a direct correct offset for the E30 and would have any wheel width 7inch, 8inch 9inch, 10 inch etc. I'm going with So3 tires btw ;)
Total price foir wheels only: $5500 without tires. No i'm not insane
I'm going to do the wheels, suspension and triflo exhaust first then drop it off @ korman for the M20 T. I can't wait. 2004 will be a good year for me.

Here's a pic of my current wheels: 17" O.Z. "volcano". The design is from 1999 (wow I didn't even realize that I've had them for almost 5 years old) lol
Anyways those will be replaced this upcoming summer 8)

Both those wheels do/will look horrid on your car.

-Jordan, who doesnt understand how stupid you need to be to dump that much money into a that car.

Anything less than an 8in wide wheel is WUSSY.

However, i don't think the 325i's with the lower arches can run that wide. I am running 17x8s with no rubbing. I was rubbing i nthe front with the wrong sized tires before.

I wanted to go to wider tires in the rear, but then i was like "uhhhh, since when did i have a problem with incessant oversteer?!?!?!"

Oh yea, i didn't. so i'll stick with what i got until the turbo is done.

HRE's are hot, but then i think about what i could do with 5500 bucks. I love my e30, and will keep it as long as it will last, but i want a newer car for a daily driver.

Fiancee and i have agreed on an e39 M5 and a G35 coupe for when i finish school, and when she finishes (this year). If my connection to Visteon works out, we'll be in good shape when i'm done with school.

8 inch wide will work huh Nick.. Looks like some body work aka fender modifying will have to be done to fit the wheels..Thanks for the heads up bro. I almost forgot about the wheel arches being lower on 88+ cars.
-The infiniti G35 coupe is $33-34 grand.. My best freind graduated college and bought one..$500+ a month...damn. But a M5 would still be near $43 grand at the lowest + higher for insurance. BTW how long do u plan on hanging on to your E30 Nick?

For my E30's future..I don't think I'm going to give up on it anytime soon. I'm going to buy a daily driver pickup when I graduate college in May. I start Grad school in May too..so I want to play it safe and buy a rather cheap daily driver to save my E30's ass. My e30 will be in the shop for some time this summer anyways so I need some kind of DD.

Anyone else have major plans in store for your E30 this upcoming year??

...And For the record I'm not Dumb..(jordan mentioned it in regard to my spending on an old car) I'll do whatever I want with my $. Think what you want to think.. I lost my best freind freshman year of college. He loved my car. I keep my car..You get the picture yet. Sentimental value... end of story.

Symmetrical spokes are disgusting. Those 840Rs are  . For $5500 you could easily find a wheel that looks ten times better than those; BBS RX comes to mind. Although, I'd take pretty much anything over your OZs... seriously, were you on drugs when you bought them? I think your car is in ubelievable shape, Jim. But those wheels and those mirrors are rubbing me the wrong way.

I like my mirrors. They are BMW authentic items. I have my freshly painted stock boring square shaped mirrors in the garage packaged in a box.

I also like my OZ's. I bought them when I was 17 & in high school ( 5 years ago come dec. 27th actually). I liked the unique design and deep dish lip. I still like em, but In order to get some respect with my car I need what i likie to call a "bmw community choice" wheel.
I n the past month I originally narrowed my summer wheel search down to BBS RX forged wheels, Compmotive CXN or The HRE's...but I wanted to go over the top...so HRE is a main choice. I didn't know which HRE wheel I would get but I wanted a BBS RX-like basketweave or Alpina spoked HRE wheel. I thought the 840R was similiar to a BBS Rx design...But according to you guys it's not similiar and notn a wise choice. Maybe I'll check out more HRE styles and look into them some more because I want "Stand-out" wheels that are very unique yet stylish. (I really want 17's)..

EDIT: Well after really looking thru HRE's website...I guess it will be the HRE 540 wheels!8) ..In 17" about the same price as the 840R and looks much better. I guess I didn't see this wheel. This is the one I want. I'll go 17x7 front and 17x7.5 rear. with So3 tires :) Best of all no fender rolling with the 540's :!: Choosing a new set of Wheels is tough..very tough  But I am certain this HRE 540 wheel is my soon to be new set of rims.

                      The HRE 540's:

                        Jim.

                        Seriously

                        Everyone thinks it

                        No one says it

                        Except me

                        You are a retard

And I think your dead friend would agree.

on a side note, SO-3's (like everything on your car) is a waste of money. Your slushbox doesnt require such a tire, and they wear very quickly.

Those wheels are a bit bling but with FI you'll never know the added weight was there. I run an H&R Cup Kit on my 87. Gave me a 2.1 drop in front and 1.8 in rear. I currently run 17x7.5 on 225/45 17's. It's a smooth ride. The KCS wheels I am ordering might be another story in the back 17x8.5 we'll see. I'll get back to you on that 1. I have my new engine going in this spring, the later part anyway. Looking foward to it. I have had nice power in the past with my 3.0 but I have never gone with turbo. I look foward to the new experience.

E-mail me if you are interested in a discount on the HRE wheels, I am a qualified and approved HRE retailer. The 17x8 will run $930 retail, but i can work out a nice savings for you.. the 840R's at $1400 a wheel are not exactly the same price.

The 540 is a hot looking wheel..

But i think the 541 or 545 would look better! 541:
