e38 redrill is gonna kill me?

New question, I picked these up the other day from the shop the other day and I know nothing about this but something about this makes me uneasy. They are redrilled and have steel inserts rather than fill… Opinions?

    first question...
Hey so I am pretty close to getting these suckers on my car and I'm pretty psyched. Just need to order spacers from Rob… Anyway he said this

    "hub bore (car side)
    center bore (wheel side)

if you require extended lugs specify: cone or ball seat and the quantity."

My responds was lolnoob… Guess what I'm asking is can someone give me and answer on these? They are 16x8 style 5's off of an e38(9?) that I've had redrilled to 4x100. And I know not what the center bore nor hub bore are and I sure as hell know nothing about lugs. Help a fool out?

Back in the day, people bashed adapters, spacers larger than 10mm, fill and drills, stretched tires and now it seems it is in style. Go figure...

If you drive like a grandma then they might be ok, but I would never drive on something half-assed like that.

It will all depend on how much stress you are going to put them through...

Today I saw a miata (lighter car than e30) brake a Kaiser(sp?) race wheel on a race tire...the whole center section broke...all 4 fat spokes and the wheel came off the car flying....

Wheels/tires are ALL your car is riding on, big safety concern in my book.

ehh I don't like how the back of the hub isn't flush and it's just a thin piece of steel pressed into areas of the wheel center that has just mm's of metal holding it together before cracking

I wouldn't rock these myself. I drive a little harder than most... but still!

Yeah me too. Which is why I'm really pissed right now. I don't know enough to say if this is safe or not. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my money back, let alone the 250 I payed for the wheels

I'm generally all right with welded/filled re-drills, but I just don't trust steel inserts. All I can think of is the inserts slowly working their way loose and then suddenly, your wheel is no longer attached to your car.

How would I go about getting my money back and reimbursement? No business is gonna want to shell out that money. And since it's been a day since I picked them up and they aren't open on sunday I dont know what to do. I was too busy with work/school to really get these up or whatnot. And like I said I just didn't know enough when I picked them up. Guhahsdgkjh

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Fuck I'm pissed. I knew I should have waited. I mean I'm not tracking the car or anything but still. I feel fucking retarded about this.

Shouldn't they have filled the holes at least?
