215/40/17 Tires... Which tires run wide in this size?

Going to buy a set of 215/40/17 tires for the new set of wheels.

As we all know, some tire makes and models run wider than others.

Which tires "run wide" in this specific size?

That's very true. I've owned a set of the N3000 in the past and they definitely run wide.

I've also heard the Federal SS-595 runs nice and wide.

      Keep them coming guys. :)

Stop buying tires for looks and go with function instead. :p

But yes, for cheap wide the 595 and N3000 are tough to beat.

I don't like spending $140 a tire guys, I prefer being able to smoke the hell out of them if I feel like it!

I thought about going 235 but I don't want that tall of a tire on this one.

You can get the actual measured tread width under specs on anything tire rack sells, be sure to take note of the rim width used. Kumhos always seemed to run a bit wider to me. I'm running 215/45.16 kumho XS and I love them.

Yokohama, kumho, toyo, nitto. I have nexens and don't think they run too wide.

my 215 dunlop star specs ran 'wide.'
my 215 yoko avs ran 'average.'

i had 3mm more clearance when running the dunlops, but had way more rubbing issues.

I have the 215/40 S-Drives on my ARC-8s, and they fit very well.

Federals are garbage, stay away from them. They only look wider because of that retardedly huge lip/bead protector they have. The contact patch of them is A LOT narrower than the S-Drives side-by-side.

Yeah Josh, they fit well. I was just comparing them to say falken 512s which run SUPER narrow. So in terms of sizing, they are pretty close to true sized. The NeoGens however run much wider.

                              for example:

205/40 Falken 512 on an 8" wide wheel

205/40 Nitto NeoGen on the same 8" wide wheel
