    Welding studs?

So my lug holes stripped out still have no idea why but both the bolts and the holes were done for Click image for larger version

I drilled out 3 of 4 holes for helicoil and ate up 3 31/64ths bits so i decided to go another route. What if i welded studs into the holes i drilled? If its a healthy weld i dont see how it could be any weaker than threading,
    Someone got any feedback?
I dont have all the tools to pull the assembly and redo the bearings.

Well you probably would. But it's a twenty year old car. One of those 'while you're in there' things I guess.

I dont have access to the tools to do it all that or the funds.
Would it be unsafe to weld them in there for now until i can replace it

Wow how did you do that to the bolts? Did you try to hammer them in?

You should only replace the hubs if you want to have peace of mind, or helicoil/jb weld if you are one to gamble. TBH, I wouldn't let cale or herbivor's mothers drive on that.

There is a fix for this, but the hubs have to come off the car for the work. You can remove the hubs (you'll need new bearings) and have the holes drilled for studs that are pressed in from the back of the hub. In most cases it will be no more expensive to just replace the hubs with new parts.

As to why this happened, from the appearance of the bolts I'd say that they weren't long enough for full thread engagement. To avoid a repetition, replace the hubs and switch to thread in (race type) studs and lug nuts. They are available from 75mm length and up.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

No one answered my question, if i were to weld the studs in temporarily i have no idea why that could be weaker than threads
I know i should replace it all but i dont have the funds and its my dd

I'd suggest walking til you can fix it correctly then. I'm pretty sure you just are not listening, nobody here thinks its safe to try what you want to try.

Sure the weld may be stronger than threads, but if your gonna have a hell of a time trying to weld those studs into the hub with the brakes and wheel on.

This really is a thread I'd expect on e30tech or a Honda forum.

I'm not trying to knock your idea, more trying to knock some sense into you.

I just dont know why a weld is a bad idea?
I will replace it just dont have the funds now,
Ive been looking around and 240 guys weld in studs for cheaper 5lug swaps
                        Sorry everyone for the halfassing

If you think it is a good idea why haven't you done it yet?
Instead of asking on a forum and then telling everyone they are wrong when they say that it is a bad idea.

Everyone who has done it has died. They're not going to be able to respond here.
