Opinions on 205/60 tires on Euroweaves

    Hi all,

I recently purchased a set of Euroweaves from a member here. I have not received the wheels yet, but I am looking to getting some rubber for them. The contemplation is between 205/55 and 205/60 size tires. 205/55 is the standard size for euroweave, but its not a popular size and so it has limited selections.
205/60 on the other hand is really popular, and there are many to choose from.

So it all comes down to this. I can a set of Nankang or Federal 205/55 and pay $312 shipped. While I can get a set of Hankook optimo 205/60 and pay $287 sipped. Its a $25 difference, but the important thing is quality vs appearance. Also if it makes a difference, my e30 hasn't been lowered. It probably won't be lowered for a while.

    Here are some comparisons:

    50s

    55s

    60s

So what do you guys think? Does it make a huge difference?

The tires on the macao blue convertible are 225/50 which is what I like. The 225/50 looks better on the rims than the 205/55. The 55s look too bubbly for my taste. Would definitely not do a 60 series.

I vote for 225/50 or even 215/50. 55 or 60 is too much sidewall.

I think you have your pics swapped? the silver 2-door looks like 60s to me and the touring 55s.

195/60 is also acceptable. 205/60-15 will not be good. Given that the quality of all of those tires is shit, I'm not really sure what you are worrying about.

Thanks for the inputs. If 205/60 is no go, 195/60 is probably the best option. 225/50 and 215/50 has very limited selections. 195/60 has a big list of tires like 205/60.
I want to get Hankooks because they seem to have the lowest road noise. Im not sure about nankangs, but IMO federals have a pretty bad road noise. Looks like I can get a set of 195/60 Hankook H426 for $281 shipped. Or I can get same size Federals for $267 shipped.

              205/50

Widewall is nice and square, wouldn't go any wider. Sidewall height just looks right too.

True, but that undersized tire will leave more fender gap.

Thanks for your advise, Northern and rellizmpro. Considering that car is 4x4 status, decreasing wheel gap should be considered.

Haha my early ix came with 185/60/14 stock height with the flares removed. Talk about fender gap.
