Unusual Tire Wear? You tell me.

6400 miles on Falken Azenis Sports 195/60/14.
3 auto-x's along with very aggressive street driving all the time.
Lowered suspension from stock to IEstg3 w/ Koni SA's.
Camber was really bad in the back so i doubled up on spring pads, helped some.
Tires have 3/32" tread left. Is this what I should expect under these driving circumstances? Is it time to get new tires? Theyre not quite to the wear mark.

I also have a really stupid question. The more and more I drive the car within the past month with these tires, my grip during cornering as well as hard shifting through the gears has gone to crap. My intuition tells me as the tread goes away on these tires, dry grip should increase as these become more and more like slicks. Am i just stupid?

i think most DE/autox groups say 4/32".

They aren't R compounds... it's time to replace them.

From my experience, any street tire loses grip as they wear down.

+1 for stock suspension. haha but seriously i just got done with a set of bridgestone potenzas that i drive hard on the street and they lasted 6 years/55,000 miles.

i hope after lowering my car this spring, i dont get only 7k out of my new set.

Camber really just makes the inside wear faster than the outside, but it doesn't really make the tire wear faster overall.

they have a treadwear rating of 200.. they are going to wear out fast, period. if you are expecting to get 25,000 miles out of them you need to buy some touring tires with a 500+ treadwear rating and stop pretending to be a race car driver.

Nowhere did I say I expected them to last that long. I was just asking if this is a normal wear rate under the aforementioned circumstances.

Stock car and road racers "scuff" tires when they want them to last and run them as "stickers" when they want maximum grip for the first heat cycle. You've probably worn them out through repeated heat cycles. The cut down street tires for road racing are also new tires. You can learn a lot writing checks to Goodyear.

I got exactly twice that mileage out of my RT-215's, with about the same amount of auto-x's. You must seriously drive the piss out of that car on the street, because I'm extremely agressive.

i have put over 10,000 milse on my back tires. they are toyo fz4's. Still have tread left. This is some what agressive street driving, canyon runs, and a donut here and there.

I have heard that the azenis wear out pretty fast though, so this might be normal. Drive a little less agressive on the street and they will last a whole lot longer.

I was told the inside last few layers of rubber are harder to allow you to drive for a little bit longer, knowing that it is time to replace them.

In any case, my Nitto 450r lasted me an oil change and a half, in the back, camber wear's a bitch!
