    Street:
    Tire: Kumho 732 Touring
    Size: 195/60-14
Price: Something like $40 apiece @ local tire place
Comments: Great street tires, got a set on the 325i auto that have been on for about 10k miles, minimal treadwear. Very little noise, great wet and dry traction (for what they are). Also decent traction in snow/slushy conditions.

    Auto-x:
    Tire: Falken Azenis RT-215
    Size: 195/60-14
Price: $47 apiece @ Vulcan Tire
Comments: Awesome dry traction. Can't comment on anything else because I haven't driven them outside of an autocross course.

hmm, makes me wonder if i could rock a 215/45-16 and be undersized not to rub....
Your wheels are 16x7 ET25, IIRC. You can get a 225/45/16 on those without ANY rubbing. Get some R-S2's in that size and enjoy.

205/55/15 vs 225/50/15, why would one choose the latter one?

225's will be a lot more rubber on the car for increased grip, forward and laterally --- but it will also be a heavier tire to sling around than a 205, so you will suffer the effects of increased rotational mass.

That being said, at track days, you'll generally see the serious dudes running 225/50's.

After a week - I like them so far. A little quieter than the RE950 Potenzas and they seem to have the same amount of dry grip in street driving. Haven't hit any snow or real rain yet.

                  Tire: Dunlop FM-901
                  Size: 205/45/16
Price: Came on wheels that I bought used
Comments: Loud, not much grip in damp, haven't been in real rain yet, decent in dry, smooth transitions from grip to slide and back. They look badass though.

                  Keep it slideways!!

                    RS2 sidewall stiffness

I was wondering if anybody was running the rs2 is 195/60R14, I am wondering if the sidewall is stiff. Does anybody have any suggestions for a tire in that size

                    Thanks

Hankook now lists 225/50/15 and 225/45/15 for their RS2s on their website. Checked all the major online tire places but couldnt find either of these sizes, anyone know who has started selling these?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Ditto. My RT-215s look like they have one good weekend left in them.

I have the rs2 in 205/50-16 and it has a pretty soft sidewall, so I would suspect the 14s would be softer. But they handle great, just put the pressure up a bit and they grip wonderfully.

I thought I remembered rs2 prices going up and rt-615s going down. If you want good grip and a solid sidewall get the Falken rt-615s if they still make that size.

We were discussing it in another thread last week.

Retailers dont have them yet, say to expect them in a few months. I was planning on getting mine by now, but to no avail.

Cheaping out with 225/50/15 ZE-512s for the moment (just ordered them today), and I'll sell them for the Hankooks whenever they show up.

I am amazed at how good these tires are for $85 a pop, I have not had a chance to auto-x them yet but just bumming around county roads and "spirited" driving around corners these things really stick to the road. Really, for $85 I will easily buy these tires again and recommend them to anyone.

Although, rain conditions are pretty damn good, but you can feel them slide a bit if you try.
