    16X8 +7 tire fitment

    I'm trying to debate on what tire size I should go with for my convertible MTII. My fenders are currently rolled. Suspension is stock right now but I plan on running Billy's w/ IE springs and e90 drophats for a good drop.


    I'm can't decide between


    195/50/16 or 205/45/16


    The final rim spec will be 16x8 +7


    Trying to lose the gap between tire and fender but I also don't want the sucken look really.


    Will the +7 be too aggressive?

    205 45 16 will be a good tire. I wouldn't go any smaller. Here is a pic of my car with a 16x8.5 +13 wheel and a 205 45 16 tire. The fronts will be just fine with that setup as well.

        16x8 +13 Front
        16x8 +8 Rear

        215/45/16

        IMO, I would run a 205/50 not a 205/45.

          Ok that sounds good! I like the stance of your car. What suspension are you running?

            16x8 205/50/16 is the way to go

              It's all Ground Control. Once I put the motor in and get it all back together I'll have to do a real ride height adjustment.

                      Agree to disagree I guess. I think that is way too much sidewall imo. Here is another pic of my setup.
                      16x7.5 +15
                      16x8 +13
                      205/45/16 all the way around


                      I'm on ground controls and pretty low. If you want to run it this low you will have to roll the fenders in the rear.

                        16x8 friends, I need your help!

                        Im looking at getting 16x8 ET10s and want to run 225/45s. I feel this may be on the hairy edge of possible.

                        What do you guys think?

                          It depends on how much fender work you want to do. The front lip is small and hard to work with, so when you roll them flat it pushes the fender out pretty hard and makes it look odd in some cases. With the 215/45 on a 16x8 above on my car I don't rub up front (but it's close) at ET13. I am 100% sure 225/45s would have me rubbing (still no roll up front) and the loss of 3mm (et10 vs et13) with the wheels you want to run wouldn't be helping.

                            Thanks for the reply Bob!

                            My fenders are rolled pretty tight and pulled ever so slightly as to not disturb the original line.

                            At a point in time I was running Ferrari 348 wheels (17x7.5 ET-1 with 195/40s) up front. I was not able to turn my steering wheel more than one rotation on a stock rack without hitting fender. But I was also going for a form over function ride height back then. Rears were 17x9 ET3 on 205/40s. Not worried about fitting rears.

                            According to online calculators, comparing the two setups, the corners of the tires should be in about the same location but the 225/45s at ET10 would be taller.

                            These were my style 5s with 5mm spacers front and 205/45s, no issues for sure. I plan on raising the car even more to allow clearance for Z3M diff cover vs. speed bumps.

                              This is 205/45/16 square 16x8 front 24 offset, 16x9 rear 14 offset with 15mm spacers all around.
