Would 235/40r17 on 17x8.5 ET40 fit with roughly a 1.75in front 1.25in rear drop with rolled fenders or am I being too optimistic on what rolling can accomplish? I'm finishing up a 5lug swap and need to get some wheels and tires on there asap.

that MZ3 rear is going to give you nightmares i'd imagine. They are far wider than the e30/318ti

I have an '84 325e that is soon to get UUC's bbk up front so I need to make room. I currently have a set of Sport Max 962's with tires mounted that are the following sizes:

        - Front: 17x7JJ 38 with 205/40 R17 80V tires
        - Rear: 17x9JJ 35 with 235/40 R17 90V tires

Although I'm not the biggest fan of these wheels, I have them now and they're paid for.

What needs to be done to make these fit? Based on a quick search it sounds like 15 or 20mm spacers? Do I need to roll the fenders for clearance (the car is currently on stock suspension but I plan to go to coilovers in the very near future with hopes of 1.5" - 2" drop)? Also, it appears these wheels don't have the same hubcentric size - are there spacers that will correct this?

        Thanks

For anyone running sportmax 501 16x8....would we have to get new lug bolts? or will the stock ones fit in there?

Hello, I've jsut signed up partly due to this thread!

I'm from the UK and this info you've provided is great!

I'm after some 16x8's available in et 25 and 10, so, from the info you have provided above, would I need 3mm spacers? They are available in et20 but not in the UK it seems!

If I wanted to get the rears poking out a little would I need a spacer? Also, what size tyres would you recommend?

Or, I've just had a look and I think you can get them in 16x7 et20...

My car is a 318is which has been lowered 60mm at the front and 40mm at the back, the arches have been rolled a little, if I can get away with not rolling them further this would be even better!

I'm currently running 205/55/r15's and due to the UK's bumpy roads the front arch used to catch every now and then - hence the rolling...

            Thanks in advance!

                esm wheels the right offset?

im thinking about getting these in a 16 inch by 7/5 or the silver ones like this. my question is what is the correct offset? discount tire said the +20 offset would be perfect. i just want to make sure that would work.

the black ones come in these sizes.

                  Question is...
                  I want to run 225 50 15's(Falken Ziex 912 if brand matters)
Will I have rubbing issues without rolling the fenders?
Got a better tire size suggestion for the best looking wheel arch fill?

                  Thanks!

16x9 et11 all around, on coilovers.
What tire size can I run without rolling?

Not a 225, as there are no worthwhile 225/40 tires made.

                      You're stuck with a 215 unless you're flaring bodywork.

Wide tires? 16x8 +20 with a 225/45/16 is common. There's a 245/35 Toyo, but it's just too short to look right.

That's actually an ideal setup. The MZ3 rear I mean.

The fronts will be just about perfect, and the rears will actually be sunken in a bit. Contrary to popular belief, the MZ3 rear end has SHORTER shafts, which leads to wheels being LESS poked. You will need likely spacers to run those wheels back there, and you can use that to your advantage - get the wheels and tires, then measure to see exactly what kind of spacing you want. It's a little rudimentary, but you'll get exactly what you're looking for. Plus, I don't have much data on MZ3 rear ends on E30s at all. MR 325 has some good info from his car though, PM him.

The funky tire sizes will look odd. Your front tires will be an inch shorter than the rears. Not saying it's a deal breaker, but you should be aware.

20mm front spacers are in order. As for the rears, you have some options. They should clear everything fine with a 10mm, but you can go down to a 5mm for more fender clearance and possibly bang in a bit of the inner well. It's a much easier job than rolling fender aggressively, as you don't have to worry about aesthetics.

For the hubs, just get hubcentric rings.

Yes, to run the 16x8 +25 all around you'd need a 3mm front spacer.

Or, you can run those 16x7 +20s up front and use the 16x8 +25 in the rear with spacers at all. That should look great. You can even run a staggered 205/50 and 225/45 setup without any additional fender work.
