You can do anything you put your mind to lobar. Search 4 lug to 5 lug adapters. Learn offsets, center bores, hubcentric spacers, etc. It might take as little as an hour and as much as weeks to get the required information but the goal here is to learn the required information. Ok, then should I run a 17x8 square setup and would 235/40 work?

It seems Kaliboy runs ET 20 Style 5 with 235/40 on E30 M3 setup so just want to get some confirmation before I buy a whole set of tires...

No, 235s won't work with the 17x8s either. Even on an early car with flatly rolled arches...it rubs. Been there, done that.

On the front, yes. Unless you manage to get like 3.5* of camber.

It'll come down to the exact tire model used. Some will clear, some won't (section width and rim protectors vary).

Car: 89 325i on Bilstein and H&R Sport.
I'm thinking RD 1.3s (15x7 @ ET25) combined with either a 205/50 or a 225/45.
I shouldn't have any problem with this, right?

+5 is enough to clear the front struts (and more than enough for the rear).

Perfect fit, no fender mods. 225/50 is possible also, although yes tire selection is crappy.
