Fronts are another case all together, you'd need to space them out 8mm to clear the struts and at that point there's only space for a 215/40 max.Comment

I'm looking at a set of staggered wheels. I have an '89 325is with Bilstein Sports and H&R sports.
This is the stance I'm looking to achieve. Neil's car is perfect imho.
Wheels are 16x9et12 rear and 16x8et30 front. What tires can I run on this setup and what spacers to achieve this? I'd like to avoid rolling and get as wide of a tire as I can without doing this.
My second option would be to run a wheel that's 16x8 square that's offered in et15 and et25. What would work well with spacers and wide rubber for a wheel like this without rolling fenders.
I want to still be able to spin this car around so crazy stretch isn't something i want to do.Comment

I'd like to run some Rota RKR 15x8 et0 wheels. That gives me a back space of 4.5" which I think is enough for an e30? They will also stick out 2.3" wider then bottle caps. Could I make these work with some Kmotors fender flares, and if so what tires should I run? I was thinking 205/50 r15 as there are a good amount of choices in that size and it bring the tires close to stock diameter. Suggestions?sigpic

At first i was gonna be like challenge accepted..
then i remembered buttchug's wheel setup on his turbo m42. He has 205/45/16.
Might be a bit of poke for some.. but it looks good to me!sigpicComment

So what are the magical end et numbers for front and back running a 225/45/16 tire to get close to flush without rolling? I thought I had heard the fronts needed to be ~et12 and the rears around the same. Neil is running a 16x8 et23 with 10mm spacers in the front and rear...but he is also running a smaller 205/45/16 rubber.
So a 3mm spacer up front gives a final et22 up front and keep an et25 in the rear will give me a setup thats close to the fender edge? Is it that much diff due to the wider tire or...?
Thanks for the help!Comment

Hi Mystikal,
I have spent about 20 hours of my life in this thread and have seen lots of good information so thanks already for that.
What I want to know now is a more of your subjective opinion on my setup.
Ordered RS reps in 16x8 +20 front and 16x9 +20 rear
Tires 205/50/16 nankangs all around
I also have some 5mm spacers I can put in the rear
My car is an 1989 vert with hard and soft top on H&R OE sports, 1 spring pad pulled in rear, and e90 hats in front.
I have not seen a lot of people run the 205/50 front and rear and wondering is going to look ok. I have spent the last few hours researching this and I gather that it will work fine I just want to know if it will look silly compared to say 205/45 fr and 215/45 rear which seems more popular (and far more expensive tire wise). Choosing the 50 sidewall was a bit of a practical gamble for me because I live in uptown new orleans and the streets are unbelievably bad, so I figure a little more tire height would help with comfort level of car. My civic running 195/45 on 7.5 inch rims beats me to death.
My car as it sits right now without the hardtop on.....
