They were a dealer option and hold a good value. td325ic told me there are two sizes depending on how your e30 was made and if you want it to work correctly you need to measure the glass and your car.
The glass in my e30 came from him and it was spendy 8 years ago. I would image they are almost 2k with a good shape slide shade.
    Much wow
    I hate 4 doors

Last time I looked into this, the consensus was that the dealer option kit came from a 3rd party, BMW sanctioned source.
That matches the one I have- it's decent quality, but the names are not usual BMW- familiar ones.

      And the brackets unglue themselves.

if it was truly rare, I wouldn't have one.

You must not have a rusty E30, apparently those are really rare according to sellers.

I have this problem. Have you been able to successfully re-glue the bracket?

I have yet to try. There are 8 year old threads, though, on which adhesive to use.

Apparently, if you get the right stuff, it works pretty well.

I've got one, although it needs some repairs. It's pretty cool to drive around and get some light into the car from the roof and be able to see outside. And yeah, they're expensive because they're rare and very difficult to purchase. Mine is the only one I've ever seen in person.
Any idea of the part number?

No clue. It may be on RealOEM though

They are not that rare but people who have them hold on to them so they don't show up for sale that often.

around until 2010 you could get them for less than 400$. I had at least 6 or 7 of them throughout the years. Even bought and sold a brand new in box one around 2012 for $1K. Now you will pay that money for one that's beyond repair.

the biggest issue is that people who were removing them from donor cars did not think to remove the rails and other parts. Unless you have those parts you will keep having water leak issues because you won't be able to place the gutter in the right position. Also the slider will not work properly.

never even thought about that aspect of it - totally makes sense. i'd love to have one for my M3, but i just don't care enough to spend $1000+ for one that needs completely restored.
