    Fender Trim/Outer Lining?

I have this trim on the fenders of my 88 325is. Never thought much of it until now.

Pretty certain this is not OEM, but the application is well done. Seems to be an adhesive that keeps it on there. Has anyone seen anything like this? Do I remove it?

Cannot find anything similar to this online, any info is helpful!

I think it's a dealer accessory or just a random aftermarket item, perhaps if you look through original dealer accessory catalogues you'll find a match.

I had the same trim on my 90 325IS, not sure if it was a dealer option or previous owner put it on, if you decide to remove it use caution as the adhesive can remove your paint with the trim if it's been on there for awhile. While prepping for paint I started to try and pull it off and a chunk of paint came with it so I used a razor blade to carefully cut between the trim and the paint. My trim had been on since 94 when I purchased the car.

I have had used cars i purchased with that on them, I have also see trim like that in parts stores. My guess would be that its a well done aftermarket add on. I also agree that if you decide to take it off, be careful, and I would heat the trim up.

It is very easy to pull the paint off with that, my crack dealer spec 4dr had this on the quarters and now it lacks paint.

I'd go the razorblade route, or fishing line/strong tooth floss route and goo-gone/adhesive remover whatever is left behind.
