      Done!

Easier than it looks, just really fucking dirty.

I am trying to get all the fluid leaks under control.

Sucks? Only hard part for me was bending that coil of hose to get the angle right and grinding otu the firewall (airbag car) but it only took like an hour and a half...

I need to address this task on my car.....current rack leaks like a sieve. I was reading up on the E36 rack swap thread elsewhere on here and I've decided when I address this repair I am going to put in a quicker ratio rack. Maybe a Z3 unit for 2.7 turns lock-to-lock goodness

              That's what I wanted to do, but I got a killer deal on a rack off a 91 318iS.

The best way to start that job is to get out the pressure washer and blast the front underside of the car. It makes it much cleaner and a lot nicer to work on.

That's why I'm doing it with the engine out. The fucking knuckle was seized like a motherfucker on the shaft coming out of the firewall.

I understand getting a deal and all, but I can scarcely believe anyone is still putting E30 racks in E30s. In addition to having a better ratio, the E36 seals are much more robust.

My e30 rack is actually sill good, but the e36 rack makes the car feel a million times more modern.
