130 =1500 bucks. plus like three points, and 6 months no license from the court, then dmv FINALLY catches up, and takes it for another 6, so in that little break while you do have your license you have time to get two parking tickets and unsafe start, and an unsafe lane change.... Dont ask me how I know that.

    I learned my lesson, kinda.

(on the No one goes 65 in california comment)
very rarely do I see a cali plate here in Texas, but when I do, they think that the 70mph limit is awesome because you can go 85 down the 10 and get away with the 15mph infraction just like in california, however the troopers here dont like anything over 75.... its really quite the site to see a Nissan Armada going 85. then try to stop when a HUGE black tahoe trooper is in the center divider. lol. god I love California...

but who drives 65 in cali? no one does. everyone drives at least 70-75. 80 and up is pushing it a bit but i can not say i have never done it.
i have been a passenger in a merc doing 120, and i did 120 in my 2002 while i still had it. fun but dumb. both the phrases if you play with fire you are going to get burned, and no pain no game come to mind.
          it's "no pain no gain"

What the fuck is unsafe start?

As for your other comment, I try to keep around the speed limit when I'm in other states, or at least go with the traffic flow. If I'm the only car on the road I just hang out around the speed limit.

You could have fought it...most CA speeding tickets refer back to the basic speed law in one way or another (CVC 22350). You can actually fight that one with a reasonable success rate...radar or not

I don't have to do anything until August 7th. How do you recommend doing this? I leave for the Air Force August 4th.

No one is forcing you to push the gas to exceed 65 mph, it's just people find it acceptable to go over since everyone does do it, then whine when they get a ticket. It's a law, regardless, so if you break it, you accept the consequences.

do some research on speed limits and you will understand what I mean

people will tend to follow the speed limit if it's set correctly (generally close to the average flow of traffic). But many times speed limits are set arbitrarily, and much lower than the average traffic flow.

And actually, the freeway here is pretty good - the speed limit is 70. average flow is between 65-75. you won't get a ticket for doing 75, but you probably will if you're doing 80, and definitely if you're going faster. If the speed limit was set to 60 (as it was when I was in high school), people are still going to go an average of 70, but the state gets a lot more ticket revenue that way.

oh yeah, the local courts here will almost always side with the accused (unless it's something serious like a DUI or no insurance), because the ticket writing BS actually costs the courts a lot of time and money that could be spent on real crime.

the government can always make arbitrary laws, that doesn't mean that they are always right or that you're a bad person for breaking them. that's why we have courts, judges and jurys.. other countries have execution squads.
