if you can get it through postal a lot of the charges are being waived. if you have it shipped carrier then you'll get soaked.
This has always been true for coming to CAN from US. USPS to Canada Post seemed to be very conservative when charging duties, UPS and FedEx have never missed an opportunity to charge duty, taxes, brokerage fees, and brokerage fee taxes on every single thing coming over the border regardless of exemption status. Rockauto seems to have some sort of agreement because they seem way less and are upfront, otherwise UPS will charge at your door and FedEx will mail you a bill like 2 months later when you forget what you even ordered. Basically nobody is willing to ship USPS these days.

"I also like the idea of slapping tariffs on India. They buy a ton of Russian oil, which props up Putin's war in Ukraine. If India were to sanction Russia and stop buying their products, it would help pressure Putin."

India indeed buys lots of Russian oil at a cheap price, mostly to resell to Europeans with huge benefits. Basically, the end buyer is the EU. Most EU energy companies also buy Russian oil. Not to mention Saudi Arabia that also buys huge amounts of Russian oil. Will the US tariff Saudi Arabia (especially when the US buys oild from Saudi Arabia? What about the US still buying precious uranium and fertilizers from Russia?

      It. makes no sense, right?

That's because those tariffs are only a pissing contest between the US president and the rest of the world. He said himself he wants all leaders to "kiss his ass". Australia buys more from the US than the opposite, yet they got tariffed. Then the same happened with Brazil. But the orange XXXX doesn't "like" that ex-president Bolsonaro gets prosecuted for trahison and obstruction of justice.

Oh well. Let's just n ot try making sense of those tariffs. Because they make no sense. There are reasons why the US manufacturing and industrial sectors are how they are now. And there's no turning back. Even with tariffs on all imports. And nobody will invest the necessary trillions to build a new industrial structure in such an unpredictable country. But don't worry. Billionaires will get richer, and we'll get poorer. LOL

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Massive Lee, yeah, that's a fair point about India and others being a pass-through for Russian oil and the EU's reliance on Russian energy. I agree with some of the concepts of making the world a better place, but I don't think this idiot in the white house is doing anything other than lining his pockets and helping his friends.

On another note, how much of your business goes to the US? I haven't had a car that needed a significant brake upgrade, but it's nice to know you're around and available. It would suck to see you leave the market.

I did sell one 300x32mm e30 M3 AP Racing-based front kit and an SL6R kit, the week before the tariffs kicked in. One other customer with freshly swapped S54 e30 wanted a front and rear 300x32mm AP-based kit with rear handbrake drums, but he only had a couple of days to test fitment and take a decision. Very short time to take such a decision. I suppose he will come back after that tariff crisis settles... Some people even discussed having parts shipped on the Canadians side of the border, for them to have a friend bri ng them over the border to them...

I sold a few other parts too. Recaro adapters, Dual MC booster delete kits, etc I also shipped half a dozen Dual MC booster delete kits for e36, e46 and e90...
BTW The US is 90% of Massive's business.

yeah they pay a bulk rate with their carrier which allows them to price import fees in. i'm not sure how the new rules will affect it.

the pelican/turner/ecs block will ship usps. i've stopped buying from fcp due to their shipping options. everyone talks about their warranty but fcp has denied me warranty in the past, stating it as a US only offering, so i don't feel the need to pay the extra for their parts.

edit: i've also had good luck with dhl. i've gotten things from europe shipped dhl that landed cheaper than anything from the states.
