I bought Bilstein sport shocks for my 1987 325is and asked my mechanic to install them. He is reluctant to install them because he sees play between the shock rod and the opening in the shock mount. Not sure if this applies up front, but I know that the Stems on the rear Bilsteins & Konis are ~2mm difference. I also know theres a thick washer missing from that top mount that goes under the big nutSimon

Yes he needs to have the large bottom washer that covers the bearing. Even then, it looks like the play is marginal. When he torques everything down, it won't be an issue."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
