Ran my car in the 1/4 mile...

Best time was 16.51 @ 85.90mph. I was pretty happy for a chipped automatic. The car had everything in it but the spare and I was running on my heavy 16's. I want to go out again next time its cold with no rear seats, passenger seat, amp, jack, tools, etc., with the bottlecaps on and see what kind of difference it makes. Boom-monkey's car dropped .4 seconds just from swapping his Alpinas out for his basketweaves.

Oh yeah, I beat an E46 325i with Dinan mods :)

    sweet. How did you launch?

that speed is faster but the time is slower than mine. I bet if you were able to load up the torque converter you could shave a lot off.
    Im now E30less.

I ran twice. The first time I gunned it and did the 16.5. The second time I loaded the torquer with like 1,100 RPM, and I added .1 seconds.

Not bad at all, considering the heavy wheels and such, I dropped .5 seconds when I switched from my heavy 16x7.5" TSWs to the bottlecaps on my eta when I took it.

Car&Driver ran a '89 4dr 325i auto. to a 16.0@88mph, so with the 14"ers and some good air I think you could get it in that range, or lower.

If you really want to go all out, buy a bag of ice and put it on the intake manifold and let it sit for a while between runs, I dropped another tenth and gained 1mph doing that. Just try to avoid letting the car stay running and idling in the staging lanes. ;)

Sometimes I wonder how I don't own a Camaro or Trans Am.

yah well then there dry ice ;) lol i haven't tried that yet.....i launch my car around 2500rpm
and i run bout 40psi in front tires and 28psi in the back....i haven't tried playing with that too much either.

the trick is try and place yourself after someone who just ran slicks, because they will lay some rubber and then you have rubber to bite on...which equals to best stickyness.

i know bmw's aren't for drag racing but when your the only one out there and you beat 3/4 of the import class (the other 1/4 are force fed or have no2) its pretty funny. regardless any type of racing is addicting.

It would be cool to be in the low 16's. 15.5 is great for stock Cam!

You'll waste the clutch if you launch at 6000rpm and the car hooks up!

I launched my M3 at 5000 rpms on street tires and it hooked perfectly, without a hint of wheelspin.

                              A 1.93 60ft time resulted. :D
