it's held in place by a c-clip. don't think it matters which way it goes in.

There is a clip that goes around the recessed area covering the pin. The pin is not tapered.

You could always take some heat to it (use some scrap sheet metal to protect anything flamable). I unbolted the driveshaft from the tranny and dropped the center support bearing to get some more room for my hands.

yeah, it's stuck. I banged on it with a hammer and a long file (perfect size to remove the pin), and it didn't move at all.

I removed the shifter console as well to get some more room, but it didn't help :(

if by bottom you mean under the transmission, that's what I've been trying to do. The little clip has been pushed up out of the way.

looking at the transmission from the bottom, the pin should come out towards you. basicly it should be pushed from the top....

try to remove that pin. if you jammed it up there you might need to drill it out.

well, I just checked and it's not completely stuck. I can push it either direction with my finger, but it only moves about half a millimeter.

The remaining part of the vibration damper is in the way, so I can't get a good angle on it either :(

my guess is you compressed the metal and it's widened so now you gotta bore the bottom hole out...

why are you taking it off anyway?

that bushing has a lot of slop in it, and I have a brand new one to replace it
