I thought i could daily a corrado... WRONG! i have had four vr6's and the corrado vr6 was the fastest vr i owned... but the worst. And distributor sucks. coil pack is better. But when you buy a corrado, You get married to it. If you want a rado, you will have to give up your e30. Dont get me wrong they are bad ass cars. But i actually came from a corrado and got the e30.
But you need a decent amount of money to keep it going. And be prepared for lots of weird problems.. Like the bucking branco issue!!! which mine had.. and i never figured out the problem."life's like the hair outta your ass... short and full of shit..."

I've owned mine for over 12 years and have 198k on it. The G60 while not being the most powerful motor is based off the bulletproof 1.8L that VW has had in all sorts of cars. The charger on mine is original with the apex seals being replaced at 160k.
Corrados can easily be reliable if you maintain them like any other VW or BMW that is 20 years old. Buy one that has a maintenance history.
Common areas that break: Rear spoiler motor, sunroof tracks (will vent but not slide back), power window regulators. G60s have the chargers that are a wear item, VR6s have timing chain guides that go. Not an expensive fix if you do it yourself, but time consuming.Chris

what he said.

The Corrado will be no worse or no better then a comparable mk2/mk3 VW in terms of reliability. Prices for replacement parts may be more expensive from most parts stores because its for that car but most of the important stuff is identical to those found on your run of the mill jetta and golfs.
As M-technik-3 just said, the G60 motor has a weak charger. If the seller cant prove its been rebuilt in the past then expect it to blow up. they only last up to 200k kms before eating themselves. However the rest of that motor is dead simple and cheap and easy to maintain so that makes it desirable as a DD
VR6 have timing chains on the trans side of the motor which involves removing transmission and basically pulling the engine to replace. If they make noise they need to be replaced. that would be the biggest thing to look out for.
I say get a well sorted VR6 and have fun with it.
