I run a machine shop of 6 CNC machines for a mech. engineering company, Production Robotics. We build custom automation equipment; things like packaging, sorting, testing equipment for product manufacturers. I also get a lot of machining jobs in the shop from places like the UC Berkeley Space Science Lab (zillion dollar satellite parts), Sandia Labs, Livermore Labs, etc. We have a reputation for taking on projects other people won't touch. I started here as a machinist 3 years ago, my boss flipped out over stress on a $100k project, I filled in for him for a while, then took over permanently and fired him. I love the work, but I'm getting fat and need to get back to commuting on my bike more. Maybe my engine swap project will help?

School Full Time: First Year University of British Columbia, looking to get into the Masters of Physiotherapy program later on down the road.

Working Part Time: Safeway - Working in the produce department. Not much of a job but heck, it's unionized and it doesn't take much thinking to do.

Reading how many of you work as BMW technicians and automotive students makes me want to turn my career path around. Ever since the E30 came around, it's always been a thought in the back of my mind...

if you like the direction you are going, go for it. it sounds like you have a career goal planned out, already. nothing is worse than achieving something, only to realize it is not what you had expected it to be. i wanted to go the bmw step route, but i'd rather build the parts than work on broken ones.

Worked for a Postal Service for 2 weeks then quit, now im Jobless, Moneyless and dont have a car. :P

All my cars are up on jacks waiting for repairs. Going to look into a job i turned down a week back since it was a gay sounding job as i may say not to mention boring, Counting beads and packaging them. (WTF?!). In need of money so i guess ill go back nad look into it again working from 7 am - 5 30 pm getting paid 8.50 an hour.

19..not doing so great at my age fresh out of highschool but i might be able to pick up my feet and get on track again. No plans for college.

I'm in sales at Best Buy, I waitress at UVA and I have a work-study job in the president's office at the community college I attend.

Remember all those elem, mid, HS test you use to take where you bubbled in or wrote down your answer with that all important #2 pencil? Well I work as a Project Manager for a Co. that designs and scores those test. CTB/McGraw-Hill. 18yrs and counting. Past 7 yrs telecommuting 200 miles away from main building at home so I can't complain.

i work at USCIS 3 days a week, and go to school the other 2 days. i basically facilitate non fence jumping based immigration on a daily basis.
