    Original tires?

I have 80k on the clock and have a feeling the tires are original or the second set on the car. What tires (brand) came on our cars?

I have a set I put on the front I got from a friend that has a tire shop since I've had it, he gave them to me for free because they were past the "date" and wasn't allowed to sell them (cheapies at that :(). Was just browsing since the '30 is in need of some new threads and was curios.

How many miles are on your car? How many sets of tires have you gone through?

There's no way you have the original tires with 80k you're probably on your 4th or 5th set at least. Tires in general only last a couple years or ~20k miles. I get new tires every 2 years.

        DOH!

Why didn't I think of that.

Same here 195/60 80H for the spare, Bridgestone 195/65 88H is what's left on the car from when I bought it.

I was checking out the Falken 205/60 88H (420AA) or the Yokohama 215/60 91T (420AB), any input on either? I have Yokohama's on the Excursion and they seem to be performing/lasting well.

80K for 2 or 3 sets of tires is not that far fetched. My parents were the original owners of my car and after the original Pirelli's were worn, they went through a total of 5 sets after 240,000 of driving. That probably had a lot to do with including the spare in the rotation sequence but overall we didn't go through that many sets of tires.

Last 2 sets of tires on my truck made it around/over 65k. Timberline H/T ,mediocre tires at best, never rotated the spare since it's a full size steelie and the rims are factory aluminum upgrades. Bought tires 2x all around, replaced 2 recently and it just hit 200k miles.

I know, I never really added them all up until now! it's okay, some people spend their money on hookers and blow, I spend mine on tires that last 10,000 miles or less. :p

I've had the same tires for 4 years:)

my spare tire is a Michelin mxv on what looks like a brand new bottle cap(I'm pretty sure its never been mounted), the tire says made in West Germany on it.

^ Yup, my spares are both Michelin MXV's. After the MXV2, MXV3, and MXV4; I would be very surprised if you are able to find a set of MXV's that haven't dry rotted.

It usually takes me a year to a year and a half to go through tires on my DD. OP, what type of driving does the car go through?

80k miles in almost 24yrs? Not much

All highway for the most part since I've had it. Until the rears started getting slick, don't know if it's seen too many burnouts etc.

I haven't had any of my cars long enough to go through a set of tires yet. I am working on it though. I suprised myself twice today by getting a second gear scratch on a slushbox car. I think the fact that I only had a quarter of a tank of gas helped.
