MJ revolutionized the music industry and thats the end of the story. What I'm getting at is that I'm sad to see a music LEGEND go down, but not another twigs and berries toucher.

I was listening to one of his songs in my e30 when I got home. (ipod on shuffle) I then turned the radio on JACK FM (completely random, DJless station) I thought how awesome it was that they were playing Beat It. I went inside and turned the TV on. The very first thing that pops up is the announcement of his death. This morning I woke up to my other ipod, (also on shuffle) which played Beat It again.

I was in college when Thriller came out. Remember there was no internet yet, but there was MTV, and what we did was watch MTV nonstop which was when they still played videos. For a solid 1-2 years he just dominated music with Thriller. And I was a rocker and still couldn't help but concede that Thriller had great hooks and beats. Bringing in Eddie VH for solo work was brilliant. College kids worked their plans around his videos when they were getting their official debuts on MTV. i.e (let's go to the 8:30pm airing of Top Gun at the movie theater because MJ's new video is being shown at 7:00 on MTV).
This is like when Elvis died at 46 or whatever. Elvis was before my time so I didn't totally care as the people from his generation.Lance Richert '88 M3, #35 PRO3, i3 etc.

cha ching at Amazon
This is so unprecedented it is not even funny.
People are buying so many Michael Jackson CDs from amazon.com that his albums (along with Jackson 5 albums, Jacksons, etc) currently hold 44 positions throughout the top-100 albums on amazon.com.
The top 15 albums (CDs) currently on amazon.com are ALL Michael Jackson or Jackson 5, etc.
There are tons of Motown "Best Of The Jackson Five" albums --- Motown seems to re-release the very same material over and over again like once every 12 or 18 months. So tons of the albums are from that category.
Then there are the MJ studio albums --- for example, Thriller shows up in like 4 or 5 formats (all are CDs) but its like:
Thriller - CD version
and
Thriller - 2001 Remastered edition
and
Thriller - 25th Anniversary edition
etc etc --- so the Thriller album holds like a handful of those 44 slots in the Top-100.
For the record --- there are no solo albums by Janet, Jermaine, Tito, etc within the top-100 on amazon --- just MJ or J5 stuff.
