The "smart" thing to do would be to invest it in something so you can get a bigger return on your money in the future, but obviously the fun thing to do would buy a new E30.

If you are indeed getting $20k from that settlement, then I would surely use it as a downpayment on a house or condo. The market is very weak now and you can probably buy something great at 60% its original price. Your mortgage will also be the same as a monthly rent. So, it is a no brainer...Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
