There are things you learn in college that you can't learn elsewhere. This is not restricted to the classroom alone. When recieving a degree, it tells an employer that you are put your time and brain to work for four years and are thus capable of completing the job. At the college I am attending, excellent employers are fighting for Cal Poly graduates. Most graduates have a job lined up even before their senior year starts.

People going to college are motivated and want to do well in life. You know this by the fact that they are going to college. People who voluntarily elect not to go to college simply don't want to put forth the time, money, and effort necessary to complete a degree. These people will have less going for them than the people with a college education. I did not recieve my highschool diploma. Instead I took the CHSPE (not the GED) and recieved my highschool diploma equivolant. I scored in the top 5% isle on this examination, Jordan. That wasn't enough for me though, knowing that I am smarter than 95% of highschool drop-outs. I also scored in the top 5% isle on the SAT examinations, and am recieving three Associate's Degrees before recieving my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I think there is no argument here, but any employer would take me far more seriously than some kid who dropped out of highschool because someone told him "education is overrated." Tell that to any successful person and they will laugh at you. Nobody wants an uneducated idiot working for them.

I agree with the above, in that the only people who think education is overrated is the people that are not pursuing an education. I don't want to hear all of these highschool drop-out success stories either. I GUARANTEE you there are 100x, if not more, success stories of people who finished highschool and recieved a college education.

Jordan, I don't konw you, but I hope to God you have a lot more hold onto for your career than a single GED statistic. The best of luck to you.
