Hey guys-
well, I have been pretty busy working on my 2002ti with george and our buddy Will (who just bought Dave Adam's M3 project, so he will probably be on these boards soon). I have the exterior mostly stripped, along with the engine bay in preperation for bodywork/paint.
While I had the motor out I decided to pull the head because of a seeping headgasket. Then I decided to replace the valve seals "while I was in there" since they were leaking a little oil. I ended up doing a 3-angle valve-job and hand lap on the valves and now I havea freshly rebuilt M10 head. The block has been bored .5mm and has 2nd oversize pistons already which are nice and tight/low mileage so I didnn't touch them. I need to yank the timing cover to get the Tii injection cover off and put on the standard M10 cover and alt bracket. I also got a new clutch and some other components for car that are good to replace while everything is apart.
The engine bay is getting sandblasted in a few minutes in my driveway here and then I am going to use truck bed liner with a roll on brush to make a durable finish in the engine bay. I *might* paint over it, I havn't quite decided yet.
All in all its going well, steady and smooth.
Here are the pics so far:
The engine bay wiring is a mess and has all been removed. I am using another harness to replace this god-aweful bundle of crappy wires...

can you say "hacked"?

new parts... got a 320i radiator as a upgrade...

getting torn down... that rust is only on the surface, it cleans right up I swear....

Tii injection, which is all removed and cleaned now, need to list it on e-bay this weekend...

This is an old clifford alarm, with a 5/83 production date!! I'm glad to have that removed...

I removed all the A/C components as they didn't work anyhow, and they weighed in at 55lbs!! Nice weight savings off the front-end.

damn rear engine pull hook...

here she comes... now you can see my Sthal header... I just bead-blasted the rust off and will now paint it black.

the E12 Head was pretty clean.. has an '83 production date so it was replaced at some point.

Block looks very nice, no ridge in the cyl and the pistons are 89.47mm 2nd overbore with minimal carbon.

All done...

More updates to come as I unravel this mess...
