That is really sad that you are sending this to the crusher, especially since it looks 2x as good as my car! How is the leather in the passenger seat? Pull it out because the recaro seats are worth something.

Headlights are nice take them out and replace them with $5 NAPA lights before getting rid of it.

Definitely take that steering wheel, maybe someone near you would want to swap it for their plain 4 spoke steering wheel, I'd trade you with mine but I live too far away to ship it out to you.

If no one comes and takes your wheels AT LEAST remove the center hub that covers the lug bolts.

The interior and exterior look really nice, you sure you want to get rid of this car?

You cant really see it in the pics but the hood and one half side of the car's paint is peeling like crazy and there's a large spot or rust where someone brushed a wooden post or something along the wheel well.

I'll check out how easy the headlights are to take out. I'm definitely grabbing the fog lights. It would be cool to grab the steering wheel but i dont know what to replace it with to get it there. I dont have enough time to run to a junkyard between now and tuesday just for that unfortunately. Center hub covers are also an "of course" :).

I'll try to remove the door tweeters for the self proclaimed "vulture" who probably sent the nicest PM. edit- wait, i have door tweeters? lol, ill look tomorrow.

I was getting rid of this car one way or another. It was a few hundred $ for sale on craigslist, $1,000 through california's "retirement" program which is pretty cool since almost all of the parts go for resale/reuse somehow, or $3,500 through this new program. I feel bad but hey, im trying to do what i can while i have the time.

It's 18 mpg or less. According to the epa site a 325i/is gets 18mpg so it just barely qualifies. Unfortunately the car we're getting only gets 27 mpg so we're only gonna get $3500 but between that and all the other dealer incentives we're getting $6,500 off of a $16,000 + tax car.

Guys i've gotten alot of PMs, mostly about the center gauges. I'll rip em out tomorrow (along with all of the other interior bits) and then we'll see what we've got. Some guy asked about my suspension.... no, i have to have that to drive to the dealer :p

Actually, I was thinking about doing this myself. In fact, if replacing my out of spec ignition coil next week doesn't fix my violent misfire, and the mysterious metallic "clip-clanking" noise from my timing case doesn't go away soon, I probably will do this.

I was thinking about offering my suspension, sport seats, front valence, etc. to anybody who would remove the parts themselves and replace them with something that would allow me to drive to the dealer.

I guess we'll see what happens next week...

Just for the record, if i wasnt getting this deal, i'd be getting a 325e or somesuch. I don't drive much anyways - 95% of my commuting is on my motorcycle (DRZ 400 SM) my girlfriend would drive it most of the time as her supercharged nissan frontier gets some 16mpg.

So we got a 2009 Hyundai Elantra 5sp with the popular package. $16k + tax - $6.5k in incentives and goverment funding. She'll be driving it most of the time so she insisted on AC etc :p.

On that same note, You can get a $3500 Texas "Drive a clean machine" credit on top of the $4500 from the gov. A guy down the street did it with his '85 Toyota Tercel, Got the full $8000, Added his $4000 savings and got a brand new Prius with a extremely low monthly payment.
