Yea pretty soon the only used E30 parts you will find are on e30s people have bought and hid in their barns to scrounge off of. Everything else will have to be NEW parts!

      +1

I just paid $1400 for a rusted out 325es that has been a Michigan car all its life, and it runs great. Your car looks pretty clean yet. I'd pay you $3500 for it. You darn Californians...

I was all for Obama, but this new clunkers program is quite nettlesome. There should be some kind of petition for a list of exceptions.

        I thought e30s didn't qualify?

I bought my car for $1200, you don't see me trading it in for a $4500 credit on a new car.

yeah that's your personal prerogative, maybe your credit sucks and you can't buy a new car, maybe you can't afford the payments on one, maybe your car isn't a rustbucket with a broken trans that can't pass smog? are you going to pay this guy $4500 for his car or pay to have his repairs done?

                  +1,000,000,000

while this program is a waste, its another way of trying to jump start the economy and the domestic auto manufacturers.

Isn't the OP going to be in the hole $10,000 with his plan of purchasing some Hyundai?

If i were him i'd have a shop quote me on replacing tranny, fixing AC, fixing exhaust. I doubt the rust is bad (and who cares about faded paint?). Then, i would compare that number to $10,000.

Yes, the program is a waste. And waste should not be accepted.

did you forget smog? he lives in kalifornia.. who cares about faded paint? maybe he does? maybe he has a stash of cash and is buying the new car with it (doubtful i know)? don't go around making ASSumptions about what other people want based on your own preferences.

oh i see what you did there

yeah, smog, that's an exhaust issue, right? If it's more involved than that, then i admit my ignorance. I'm from Michigan after all.

it's just been my observation lately that fixing a car that runs and drives is usually going to be cheaper. Plus you don't wind up with a Hyundai.

and i'm a huge e30 enthusiast, and like to see them saved, so please pardon my passion
