That tray is not for cell phones. I have a factory BMW cell phone. It mounts to the front of that console, where the heated seat switches are (doesn't block those switches though.

        I'm 6'
and I *hate* arm rests. I hated them in the e36, i hate them more in the e30. To confined a space to work well.

I do like it in our new e39 though... so go figure.

I'm just very particular about what is surrounding the areas of importance when driving: ie- shifter, steering wheel, pedals, my seat.
        Below the radar...

Word. For $120 I could think of some much better mods to spend the money on.

Re: the modified 7 series cupholder.

Just take a regular cupholder from an E34 5 or an E32 7 and put some of those vinyl bumpers on the outer lip:

            cheap, VERY effective, and removeable.
            Im now E30less.

I have that one and I'm very happy with it. Some people say it would get in the way or get kicked but you will quickly get used to it. I don't even notice it anymore. It holds many different sizes of drinks and you can leave your drink in the car when you get out unlike door mounted holders. It's good, I recommend it.

I also have the armrest that this thread was originally about, it was installed by the previous owner. The cupholder is crap, it can't hold cans, it gets in the way, and it feels very flimsy. The armrest is good though and in my opinion much better than having nothing to support your amr during long drives.
