That tray is not for cell phones. I have a factory BMW cell phone. It mounts to the front of that console, where the heated seat switches are (doesn't block those switches though.

I'm 6'
and I *hate* arm rests. I hated them in the e36, i hate them more in the e30. To confined a space to work well.
I do like it in our new e39 though... so go figure. :roll:
I'm just very particular about what is surrounding the areas of importance when driving: ie- shifter, steering wheel, pedals, my seat.Below the radar...

I also have the armrest that this thread was originally about, it was installed by the previous owner. The cupholder is crap, it can't hold cans, it gets in the way, and it feels very flimsy. The armrest is good though and in my opinion much better than having nothing to support your amr during long drives.
