well yeah, obviously if you're going way too fast you're going to slide off the road. my point is it's a lot harder to spin an AWD car, it's very unlikely that the rear end will suddenly come around. and if you do get one sideways, it's easier to get it back under control. considering how much time I spend driving in rain, I don't miss the "better" handling of RWD at all. -
It's a 100mph (160kmh) turn.. Ask me how I know.. Or that could just be that my inherently better handling vehicle allows me to do so :POriginally posted by nandowell yeah, obviously if you're going way too fast you're going to slide off the road. my point is it's a lot harder to spin an AWD car, it's very unlikely that the rear end will suddenly come around. and if you do get one sideways, it's easier to get it back under control. considering how much time I spend driving in rain, I don't miss the "better" handling of RWD at all.Originally posted by PanamaE30Friend of mine lost control in a fast turn at around 140kph and ate a pole in his '02 WRX.. AWD is great, but it can't defy the laws of physics and in my opinion they handle worse than RWD cars.. Just gotta know what you're doing.Originally posted by nandosorry to hear about your loss. this is why I got an AWD car. ;)
It rains 9 months out of the year here, and rain here is a LOT heavier than anything you guys get in the states, short of a hurricane. I'll still take my RWD car. Rain is always fun :)1988 325iC - "Betty" - Daily Driver/Project Car.

just my stock leather seats. Two were bolted where the rear seatbelt is ( the red clip in part, for the shoulders) and the lap belt is attatched to the floor on the back two bolts where the drivers seat is attatched.Originally posted by kylebes1What kind of seats id dyou have and how where the four points installed? I get more and more worried every time I hear about an e30 crash.

Contact your local chapter of the BMWCCA. They can let you know when they have Driving Schools and Car Control Clinics. If they don't host them, they may be able to tell you which local organization does. Snow is tricky with RWD. I drove a RWD for two years in Syracuse, so I feel your pain.Originally posted by clutterbuckerI wish I knew if there were any kind of driving school in buffalo...aside from the standard Driver's Ed. thing. I'm not bad with car control, being a Buffalo snow driver and what not, but I suppose I'll get some more practice...this being my first winter with RWD. Boy am I nervous.
