It was nice to do a physical job, and I liked the exercise. Working 80-90 hour weeks was subpar though (though I didn't mind it a bit as a temporary thing).

Had my first day there Monday, and I have to say, I like it. It's quite a change from standing around at the video store, and it's nice to actually work for the whole day. The place is like a big assembly line, with a crew of guys all doing a specific task on the house. I'm doing roofing, but they may move me over to framing, we'll see. The quality of the houses built is very high, and they aren't just your run of the mill crap manufactured homes, they really are very nice. I'd say about 60% of them, you wouldn't know they were manufactured homes unless someone told you.

Just a little update on the new job.
In my first week, I got 49.15 hours, and anything over 40 hours is time and a half, and I make $9.50, so my first paycheck is going to fucking rock. I get paid once a week, and each week my paycheck is going to be more than my every two weeks check at my old job. My brother works there too, he's been there 3 weeks, and already got a $.75 raise. I've estimated that with the $1k my wife is going to give me next month, I should be able to save at least $2500 by the end of February, and shit, maybe I'll go to the end of March, and get enough to do my suspension/tires/wheels.
My superisor tried to use one of the classic "new guy on the job" tricks, and sent to me to go find the "board stretcher". SInce I'd already had that joke played on me over the summer, I played along, and went across the street and had a burrito. When I got back, he asked me what took so long, and I told him that I coulnd't find it anywhere, then that I knew it was bullshit and he just started laughing.
This job rocks.
