ohhh, classy.
The new fobs for DEI alarms are about the perfect size now. It would be great if thye had a way in which you could take your factory blank and snap the fob around the top of it. All of the late model vehicles I have had came with the triangle headed master blank.Im now E30less.

Last night I was bored....
Spare keyless entry remote + spare key = awesome.
I don't much care for the faux carbon fiber on the keyfob but thats what came with my alarm/keyless entry.
This thing is badass. :)Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

well without pics, i'm not sure how much of this will make sense (all the links were dead on VWVortex)
You can modify a VW/Audi flip key to work with the DEI mini remote (transplant the guts of the DEI mini into the flip key)
Then, all you need to do is get a copy of your key made, remove the blank from the flip key and cut your to match (the flip key is cut down at the end to slide into the flip key and a slot is cut for the pin that slides down to lock it into place) . Then all you need to do is get rid of the VW/Audi logo ;)
I have a flip key that i modified to work with my early VW key, but my alpine alarm remotes are too big to fit into the flip key. If you are interested, i'll take some shots of the how to modify the spare key to work with the flip key remote.Chris

ok here are the pics
2 piece Remote closed:
key out, other side
here is the pin you need to press out to remove the key (pin is already removed in this pic) I used a thumb tack and a hammer to press it out
The key is removed and you can see the grove the the pin fits into to lock it in place
comparison of the BMW key to the MKIV VW key
I used a full metal copy (no rubber portion) since i had to cut it up to match the shape of the MKIV key. You will also need to grind about 1/16" total of both sides to match the width. This is so the key will fit into the remote when folded back.
(please ignore my measure once, cut twice work. The next key I did for a friend turned out looking like factory ;))
and here is the remote portion taken apart to show the size of the circuit board
DEI mini remotes is the only ones i've found small enough to fit insideChris
