You desert folks are used to living in convection oven-like temps......so its no surprise to hear you say this.

36F may seem chilly.....but its not 'cold.' To me, cold is defined as anything below zero....and the coldest exposure I've ever experienced was when I was skiing at Squaw Valley where the wind-chill had it feeling like it was 4 below zero. Now that is cold.

fuel prices have nothing to do with global warming, and everything to do with supply and demand. and the amount of CO2 we emit every day is certainly not just part of the natural process...

There are 3 different conversations going on.

Fuel prices crude oil prices are two different things. However both are driven in a large amount by specualtion.

Global warming exists but not in the magnitude people want to believe. La Nina has a greater effect on the climates than humanity.

I always thought it did get cold in AZ, is 36 the high? I remember it getting pretty chilly at nights there.

I never said gas prices caused global warming........It is supply and demand, so in theory more petroleum would be used when it was colder thus wouldn't the demand for it be higher? I'm in no way saying that global warming is made up to make our gas prices higher.

Some friends of mine were walking down the street on the first cool day of the fall this year, it got to a low of 53 that day. There was a girl standing alone at the bus stop crying and shivering. They got concerned and asked if she was ok and she replied "is this as cold as it gets here?" Haha it turned out she was from California, my friends were wearing tee-shirts. I wish I could see her in January and February when it actually gets cold.

                          Canada Owns us all...

Yes its cool here too, 50 mph winds as well, must be all along the east coast.

BUT MAN, I would take Washington DC's WORST winter over the winter I spent in Calgary.

On average that winter it was -40 below!
The second coldest place I have lived would be Gunnison Colorado. Just down the mountain from Crested Butte. On average -20 below...3 to 5 feet of snow all winter. They never even bothered scraping the city streets, they would just sand them. We drove around on about 3 to 4 inches of packed snow, all winter.

Damn I miss Colorado, the skiing at Crested Butte was WONDERFUL

it is bloody f***ing cold out here lately.

& no, "just over freezing" may not be that cold in absolute terms-

but considering that most of the summer here involved ~110deg temps, we're talking about a swing of almost 80 degrees in what, 3 months?

you can call us pussies after YOU'VE dealt with both extremes.

but hey, at least my car runs really strong in this weather. time to finally get those 19lb'ers in.
