2005 Mitsubishi EVO VIII MR FQ-340. The EVO VIII is a badass car, and the MR FQ-340 is even more amazing. The handling capabilites of this car STOCK will flat-out WALK AWAY from just about anything in the corners. The power has gone from 260 bhp to 320 and 305 lbft of torque, and that's still from the turbo'd 4-cylinder. The hood and the roof are made of aluminum, shaving almost 30 lbs. off the car, and the rear wing is carbon fiber. On this car, the Active Center Differential and the Active Yaw Control remain engaged even while the car's ABS is activated, unlike the previous EVO. The EVO VIII MR will out-accelerate the BMW M3, Porsche 911, and the Honda NSX.

    320 bhp / 305 tq. @ 6600 RPM
    0-60 in 4.4 seconds
    Top speed - 157 MPH

(BTW, this isn't just a bunch of crap I copied and pasted, this is my dream car, and I know SHITLOADS about it)

That would be my choice as well, I saw a red one last weekend and they are awesome.

The FQ's not available in the US though, is it?

I'm pretty sure the FQ is, I was under the impression that the new STi and the new EVO's were the same cars that are available overseas.

I know that one version of the MR is sold here, maybe it's not the FQ. :(

*EDIT* - the FQ-300 will be sold here, not able to find anything on the 340 being sold here.

Yea, looking on mitsu's site, they list the MR as a seperate model, but with the 276 hp varient.

Definetly a BMW. I'd rock either a 330 convertible loaded with SMG or a Z4 3.0i with sport seats, SMG, and other goodies.

A good way to get a good price on a hot new car is to buy a "demo" (DEF: A car one of the dealership big shots got to drive)

And no...I don't want an american made car or any type of truck. I don't give a damn how fast it is, everythime I drive a truck or SUV I hate myself. Some may look sweet or be very fast, but they still ride like a truck.

The only SUV/truck I'd ever drop $ on would be a X5...it's a 5 series with a higher ride height.

OT: Drove a RX8 the other day...my first time driving rotory...fucking fun! I want to go anti-cylinder now...

                  I'll still take it, dammit.

Are we allowed to modify the cars when we get them if we have $$$ leftover? It's $38k, and I'll use the remaining $12k to modify the engine to FQ-400 spec.

Charlie, being a track-head, why not go for a 2005 Corvette Coupe with the Z51 package?
Corvettes kick ass on the track, and the z51 package gives the corvette .98g on the skidpad, 4.1 sec 0-60.
If I were to buy a car other than BMW, it would be a Corvette. They are just too sweet not to pass up. Power, Handling, Braking, and can ruin many many a car on the track.

I was actually planning on adding to my list, the C5 vette was on that list.

Carrying the strange american-car thing forward is this:

I'd also look at one of these:

Keeping BMW themed, a 330ci would work as well.

This is a pretty phat car

decent family car --> Jetta GLI:

SUV - Always loved chrokees, the grand cherokees

I don't think I would buy a 50,000 car. Pay a lot less and get something decent, or just pay a little more and get something considerably nicer.
Furthermore, for 50,000, a whole range of great used cars open up to.

yea, but the fastest one on the track would be this:

And thats all that matters, right? :D
Plus it looks great, and has tons of power for those stoplight to stoplight jaunts. Sorry for the "oh no" reference to street racing, but you're in an American muscle car, you have to do it at least once.

You're not paying attention to the question.

You are given 50k, this isn't "your" money otherwise. The question is also 2004-2005 cars, I distinctly left out the used market.

and that's why I didn't include Used cars

I'm making a point that I would buy a less valued car, and keep the spare change (or is that not allowed in your hypothetical situation?).
The choice of car (probably for everyone here) will depend on whether you get to keep the change, if you get to spend money on mods. You only mentioned that you can't buy more than one car.

My solution therefore is, but a civic (then sell it), keep the change. And buy somethign that I actually like combined with my own money :D
