Wow, thats kinda interesting hearing what just other people in the US get as far as being e30 owners. In the midwest, well, Wichita Kansas, its a bit different. I cruise around with atleast 2 or 3 other e30s that all look good, so when we all go somewhere we get a lot of looks and people start talking. I think it depends on whats done to your car: Driving stock e30 doesn't seem too impressive, and people will blow you off. But when you start doing things to it, lowered, rims, exhaust, and keep it clean, then you get some knowledge.

It just depends on who you meet. Ryan, we need to grab some of those 19 yrold biatches driving e30s....

i also always tell people i drive an "old bmw" whenever anyone asks what kind of car i get. the only people that really notice or say anything about the car are german car enthusiasts. i got a few compliments from a british guy with a 2002 m roadster today :D . he was probably just trying to be nice cus i complemented him on his car though.

When I meet people (chicks mainly), I usually tell them that "I drive a BMW."
Just my effort in trying to get laid, but once the girls comes out of the club and sees my car, they always say that they forgot something in the club. . . they never return.

even here in germany, you have a kinda(bad name) for driving BMWs. I get more looks and coments driving in my e30 touring than my 2001 touring. As far as people thinking you are rich if you drive a new BMW, I really dont understand, cuz they really arent that expensive. you can pick up a couple year old one for the same price as a new chevy. I get tons of repect in the M3, but the most attention I get and people really say wow is in my 1994 CHEVY 1500 truck. (Im in germany though.) E30s are turning cult here in germany- dont see many on the road really except converts.like said by someone else- depends what your E30 looks like, and how well its taken care of.

People ask me what I drive, and they scoff when I say 1986 bmw.

Then I take them for a ride and they quickly change tone, i've converted many into buying an e30 of their own as well :)

I've got a bit different response about my car from other people.

                      Them: You drive a bimmer?
                      Me: Yeah, its an 87.
Them: So you drive a bimmer?

Most people I've talked to are woed by the fact that I drive a bimmer and still think I'm a rich kid because its a bimmer. I guess thats cool though because I'm paying for it myself.

I say "I drive an e30". No one knows what it means, so the question slides.
Only when forced to I say I drive a BMW to people I dont know. Makes me feel all snobby, and I hate it. Thats why I drive an e30 :)

theres nothing wrong with being proud and bragging about your car. I remember when i first came to germany in 1994 and bought a 1991 convert. I called everyone I knew to brag..my parents just said why did you waste all that money on some euro crap! shit I was proud as hell of it, and still am just as proud of the E30s I own, they may be older, but they are better!!! old doesnt mean bad!-- now to just convince my wife of that!!

Yeah, same here... I hate saying I drive a bimmer.
325 feels better because people know who makes the
car without actually having to say ........Um... *Gulp.. "bimmer" :?

i hope my eta takes a shit soon so i have an excuse to get a better car.

I used to start off saying, "i drive an '88 BMW 325i Cabriolet". But that was a mouthful, although watching people's faces was amusing.

Now I just say I drive an '88 BMW. Funny thing, most people are more enthusiastic AFTER seeing the car than before it. Honestly, my car is falling apart and people still ask me "is that a 94?" I mean, wtf, you may not know about BMW's, but c'mon, it even looks old :P

Can't wait to paint her, just to see what people will say next.
