I'm glad you are learning now what yout DMV handbook tried to teach you years ago.

You'll get no remorse from me either, I fucking hate people who do that, especially when there are signs made exactly just for that reason.

Hopefully a lesson was learned here. I hate left lane bandits who think they own the road, even though they keep a steady 60mph on the left lane, passing cars with a ONE mph "advantage". And for those asking if perhaps we could pass on the right, the answer is NO. It is illegal to pass on the right. If you do so and get hit from a car on the left lane pulling over to the right, then you are at fault... No passing on the right.

As for the OP. Swallow your pride. Accept you were at fault. Just don't repeat the same mistake. ;)
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Exactly. Millions of dollars of tax payers money spent on signs that people think don't pertain to them. Speeding could fall in that category too but it doesn't cause congestion, doesn't effect everyone around you, and certainly doesn't entice road rage. I would safely bet drivers in the left lane are the number one cause of road rage.

It doesn't always make sense for EVERYONE to be in the right lane, traffic would slow to a crawl because cars would be following each other tooo closely. When there's enough traffic I will use the left lane, but I'm careful to pull to the right if there's someone behind me.

we get to use all of our lanes out here in cali.
Move down here and start getting pulled over for real reasons, like: cars too low, lights too bright, cars too modded, blah blah blah!

I wish they were enforcing this law... I hate it when people are driving in the left lane strictly with the speed limit. Go to Europe, you get a HUGE fine if you pass anyone on the right, and another one if you travel in the inside lane.

If I were an officer I would be on people hardcore for it, particularly Camry drivers with tunnel vision and blinders on driving 10mph under the speed limit. On the 4 and 5 lane interstates & expressways here one person driving the speed limit or "hovering/poking" in the left lane causes 2 or 3 lanes of "accidents waiting to happen" because everyone has to maneuver around them...up to four lanes effected by just one car. After commuting in Atlanta for 6 years I could write a book on traffic logic, California is a whole different ballgame though lol!

Maintaining a proper distance from the car in front of you is another thing that prevents chaos & congestion, allows people to safely change lanes and merge, and guarantees to prevents accidents. Plus you can get twice as many people through a traffic light if drivers stayed back from the car in front of them and got rolling starts for green lights. Why is it that when I'm 10 cars back I'm already moving by the time the 2nd or 3rd car is taking off? If everyone did that there would be so many more people through the light before it turned red again and if someone needed to change lanes last minute it enables them to do so without blocking an entire lane trying to squeeze in.

I can't believe taxpayers had to pay $250,000 to $500,000 at each on-ramp for lights that enables drivers to merge onto the expressway/interstate. If people simply maintained a proper distance from the car in front of them everyone would be able to merge and it would abolish most of the stop and go traffic here.

Here in Iowa I believe the law is slower traffic keep right, there's always people in the left lane and that's fine with me as long as they are going faster than the left lane. What really pisses me off is when people just camp in the left lane going the same speed or slower than the right lane. I have actually had to pass people in the right lane because they were camping in the left.

In So Cal this law does not stick, there are actually people that hog the #1 lane because they think, "they shouldn't be going that fast anyway". I generally am in the left lane, but that's because Im always going faster than the general flow of traffic, but if someone is gaining on me, I move aside and let them pass. When Im in other states, I always follow that law.

I hate how people wait till the car in front of them is like 20ft away before they start moving at a red light too. If everyone just started moving steadly when the light turned green you can get so many more cars though an intersection. I hate people SO much

In Wisconsin they say "slower traffic keep right" we don't have any signs like that here and I use I94 plenty.

thats what i do if someone comes up on me i let them by. thats why i never saw it as a problem, im not blocking anybody or anything. it just seems pointless to change lanes a million times to pass cars that are going 50 but i guess thats what i will do from now on. =
