why the fuck would you need a set of deep sockets to take off the valve cover? you can do that shit with the open ended wrenches in the trunk. you're a moron.
also: if your friends neighbor is a mechanic why didnt he have tools?
Yes you can. I've done it, you tool. Do I need to make a video? Also: deep sockets wouldn't make sense, since the INTAKE MANIFOLD kinda gets in the way.
You still haven't answered why your friend's neighbor the mechanic didn't have tools.

Moral of this story?
If you drive your e30 on stairs, you're gonna have a bad time.
and the situation just went from bad to worse. the blind are now truly leading the blind.
from what i know the ix was owned by a local mechanic, true. but the car WAS turbo charged with a home made kit. this is the second car this mechanic has owned that he had a home made turbo kit installed on. this is also the second car that he has removed that kit and sold the car. this is the second car that he has sold to someone and shortly later the block gets windowed.
i wouldnt be surprised if you have drive shaft damage also since i dont believe those shafts can take that much power, im sure Nando can correct my theory though.

Im not sure if this was the car that had the turbo on it.

nah, properly lubed they can take a lot of abuse. the guys in europe with turbo drag ix's do occasionally break the spider gears in the front diff though. I've pretty much decided that a turbo is in my future as well, I don't expect many problems (except maybe needing a better clutch!). certainly not a hole in the block :p
I threw a rod in my VW 8v, put a hole in the front AND back, and I was just driving it regularly........of course I beat the fuck out of it every other day!!
