There aren't going to be any penalties apparently, but Hamilton deserves a big one for that series of moves. Rosberg got one in Abu Dhabi for going over the line, Hamilton doesn't get shit for entering the pits dangerously twice and leaving the pits extremely dangerously? BS

I can't understand the FIAs delay in issuing Hamilton's penalty. Alonso's jump at the start was quickly dealt with via drive-thru the pitlane. Hamilton's pitlane moment (both entry & exit) was far far worse in my view.....this is an area where crew and officials are standing mere feet away from traffic. He was clearly beyond the blue-painted 'slow lane' so he is in violation of the rules and yet no penalty to be issued for this action until post-race? I'm not a Hamilton hater - I think he's a very talented driver, but what he did today was just blatantly wrong and should've been slapped with a punishment well before the race ended.
Button drove a solid race today. The difference in driving styles between him and Hamilton are obvious. Jenson takes care of the car at the expense of total outright pace, but his car was in better shape when the checkers waved. Hamilton grabs the car by the scruff of the neck and shows no mercy. Fun to watch as a spectator but bad for the equipment you have to rely on to get you to the finish.
Renault are looking a lot better than many gave them credit for. Kubica has been driving well but I'm more impressed with Petrov the rookie. This guy looks like a budding young talent to watch out for in future seasons.

Vettal was in the wrong. The move Hamilton made into the pits was the same that saint alonso made. Hamilton was in front of Vettal when he was released and slipped on the sponsor paint in the pit lane. Vettal tried to force him into the Williams pits.Last edited by sennafan; 04-18-2010, 04:32 PM.Comment

Vettel was not in the wrong at any moment during the whole event. Hamilton almost hit Vettel getting into the pits, illegally entered the pits, and then was let out at an unsafe time, and commenced to race Vettel to the end of the pit lane. Vettel had two options: keep driving, or get out of Hamilton's way. He picked the correct one.Comment

Sure he didn't leave him enough room to go 2 wide through the pits, but that isn't something that is supposed to happen anyway. Hamilton shouldn't have been beside Vettel to begin with, much less racing him down the pitlane with two wheels on the wrong side of the line. Not to mention Hamilton entered the pits extremely dangerously, and Vettel got out of his way there to avoid a collision.Comment

Nice race... I am also impressed by Petrov.
Hamilton will probably get a penalty in the next race for being too aggressive in the pits....I was watching BBC feed and it was pretty clear Vettel was already moving before Lewis was released
Nice slide by Webber in the previous to last lap! :)Last edited by Jean; 04-18-2010, 06:41 PM.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

The rule is a car is not to be release within 55 metres of another car (IIRC). Hamilton's crew let him out in the path of Vettel. When he was let out Hamilton's left front was just in front of Vettel's back right tyre, it looked like they may have even touched (this is from the camera view above Hamilton's head). Yes, Vettel squeezed him, but ultimately Hamilton shouldn't have been there.Tim.Comment

I love the never give in attitiude of Hamilton, race them even in the pits. Sorry guys but F1 needs more drivers like him and Alonso. They are always exciting to watch. Also I think Buttons slow pace at the re-start was more dangerous then the whole pit incident. Funny no one has mentioned it.
Also Schui just looks plain timid behind the wheel.Comment

Update on "PitlaneGate" from Chinese Grand Prix. Vettel and Hamilton receive no punishment for their double-wide stunt yesterday.
