I really hope Austin is a good layout and has some elevation change to it. There is no reason it shouldnt be a fast long layout with land as cheap as it is in TX. Anyone from the area that knows about the location of where the track is being constructed?

I am pretty sure I am going to be in the lead after they update the league, my gamble on Schumi paid off! Now onto Monza, who knows what the fuck will happen there.

The track layout has been released and I think it looks like a bad ass track for something on American soil.

That looks cool, with maybe 3 optimum overtaking spots and a downhill winding straight. The lack of chicanes is awesome. It is counterclockwise as well, I just noticed.

That track looks awesome! I can't wait. I might have to start saving up so i can go to see a race there. I missed when they were in Indy. I'll go to TX, but if they get this other track up in NY, then I will have to go there.

Monza! The fastest of the fast is this weekend!
Also apparently for 2013 they will drop to 1.6L 4 cylinder turbocharged engines and ground effect aero. I am happy about the latter, not so much the former. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/86341

Yeah, turbo 4 bangers sounds un-F1 like, but for the first time in almost a decade the cars will sound different, so we shall see. I hope ground effects will make the racing better, or at least make the cars faster.

F1 is heading backwards imho. Total output will be 650hp. Man I am going to book my ticket for 2012 Austin to see them while they still have v8s and 800+ hp

Umm in the 80s they were 1.5L 4 cylinders turbocharged engines. The BMW engines were making ~1500HP with 70lb of boost in qualifying spec, race spec they would be at around 1200hp just so they could last the duration of it.

Im guessing they will be running the same engine rule, 8 per season [dont quote me]

It is circling that it could be as low as 5 I believe.

Plus I believe they are limiting hp to 650 from what I read, not the 1500 in the days gone by. I also read 5 engines per season. Also say good by the elaborate wings as the ground effects are meant to try to eliminate all the r&d for wings etc.

^Yeah he wasn't saying they will have 1500hp, more complaining about the step down in power I'm guessing. Even if they have to make 5 engines last a year I'd hazard a guess that they could comfortably get a direct injection turbo 4 banger to put out more than 650hp...

Here's hoping KERS is used to make up the difference (and not as a push to pass button, but like an additional power supply).

I also heard they will have a fuel flow regulator to be more "Green" so that may be another reason they are only going to have around 650hp.
