Magnaflow or Vibrant?

Can't decide, I have a 88 e30 with K&N Intake, IE Headers, Dinan Chip and a few other small goodies. What do you think would sound better?

I really liked my vibrant on my e36. They made a bolt on. Have heard the E30s with Magnaflow though and they sound great...

2.25" single inlet mufflers suck. that's smaller than stock. Plus magnaflows are loud. Maybe I'm just old, but I'd go for the vibrant. At least you can get a 2.5" inlet.

unless someone with knowledge in fluid dynamics can chime in here and give you the flow rates of dual 2.25" and what would be an equivalent flow rate in a single inlet, i would stick to dual 2.25" in.

i have no knowledge in fluid dynamics, so im just throwing this out there. but i'd go to at least a 2.75", if not a 3" for the inlet if you make it a single. but as i said, i think sticking to dual 2.25" in is ideal.

a single 2.25" definitely flows less than stock (approximately dual 1 7/8"). It comes down to surface area and cross section. The cross section is much smaller, enough to offset the decrease in surface area.

2.5" single inlet would be fine for a mostly stock engine

i have the 2.25 magna flow muffler... i like it alot i bit loud but it only bothers neighbors/ or people on the streets=]

no, it's way smaller than that

the actual dimension is in MM, I don't remember exactly, I just know it's close to 1 7/8". I think that's OD.

The cross sectional area of a single 2.25" muffler would be reduced by over an inch and a half from stock.

IIRC a late model E36 M3 has 2" or 2.25" dual. The e30 is much smaller.
