Believe the Grom is less money and more user friendly.

I have a CD 400 and love it, have had it for about 4 years and no problems. Matches nicely, does all I need it to do and is a top quality HU.

If you're going to be using a DICE or similar iPod integration kit, you can look into the C43 as a cheaper option. I have one in my car, and I'm researching the iPod kits for it at the moment. The only downside is that I do not believe it has text support to play the artist and title of the track, but I don't really care about that.

Hundreds of better decks out there for the same or less money. Kenwood KDCMP942HD has multi-color display, and the KDR900 packs tons of features and if the color is so important it does have the multi-color.

What is with so many e30 owners wanting to keep things as stock as possible? A car that old needs to be customized.

I'm looking for something that looks like it belongs in the dash, not just match the amber lighting. I'm all about improving the e30, but not when it's going to look out of place. These are the headunits that people have suggested so far. I don't see how any of these would mesh with the austere rectilinear design of the e30 interior.

To me, it's would be analagous with wearing my Asics Kayanos with my traditional single breasted 3 button black suit. The running shoes are ridiculously comfortable and have these awesome silver and gold accents. They would look fine when i'm wearing a t-shirt and jeans, but they just don't look right if worn with my suit.

                            + $35 shipping

Plus it's one of the rover units that they just put the tacky vertical M badge to cover up the label. I'd rather it just say nothing.

CD43 without hesitation! Forget looks, it sounds better with Lukes Sub box than My suburban with a $600 alpine HD. Plus, its very under the radar. My car got broke into (thieves grabbed electronics) but they didn't touch the CD43 since it looks factory and doesn't give away the rest of the system. If it were anything else, I'm sure they'd have pried it out.

Looks factory because it is factory. Just an updated piece, I am glad they did not tear your dash apart.
