That sucks man, hard lesson learned. ALWAYS check the fluid on a part like that before you take it out for a drive!

dont feel bad.
my old H.S. boss at pizza hut took 6 months to rebuild his 72 camaro
spent everything on it, chromed out crazy
it was a shiny beast, and he got all ready to go
got his clean clothes on,
invited us all over
put on his racing gloves
got in,
started it up, (so loud i couldn't hear the train going by 80 feet behind his house)
he was able to get it in reverse before it seized up and rolled backwards another 20 feet.
his eyes wide open
his hood open.
checking the dipstick and just walked in his house and drank all the alcahol he could afford for a while...
we found out he never bought oil or added any before starting it up. and he had to rebuild it again.
that lesson taught me something so long ago, that we all need to learn.
no matter how good you are, it doesn't mean its good yet.
or
everyones an idiot sometime
if someone did this work for you, than maybe they will buy you a new diff,
if you did it, well, i bet you never do it again.
be happy nothing else got damaged.
