where do they hide it then...guess i gotta take down that whole upper part? I prob didnt look hard enough. How do you take off the upper part? Is it those screws to hold the visors in? And it comes from the drivers side? I only looked in that lil section behind the check lightsLast edited by 88SuperETABD; 04-15-2010, 11:10 AM.(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

Yeah, so I am doing this at the moment. Guess what? Pulled to the side, and the bracket that the mirror clips to came out. Hooray.
I'm thinking that I'm probably going to drill out the holes in the sheet metal and drill out the rivets themselves and use actual screws to mount it.
However even with the stupid mirror and bracket OFF of the goddamn car, I am having a hell of a time getting the fucking bracket loose from the mirror. Good lord did they design this poorly.

You've just got to break the ball free from the socket (no homo). I've found the easiest way to do this is just by "overadjusting" the mirror. Since it's out of the car, you'll have to swivel the bracket until it doesn't want to go any more, and keep going. You won't break the mirror, it will just pop free.paint sucks

On the lighted mirrors, though, there is wiring that goes through the ball joint and there is also a different mirror stalk that has some sort of adjuster on it.1987 BMW 325is | Frankenmotor S50 | Supersprint Replica Headers | K&N Intake | Gutted Stock Midpipe | Zimmermann Rotors | Stainless Brake Lines | Porterfield Racing Pads
