I was going ~"45" in a 50 zone, but he pulled me over for exhibition to racing.
He thought I was trying to race my buddy in an e36 because we were going around 25mph talking through the windows of our car for directions to an exhaust shop. After giving him directions I pulled away so he can merge behind me to follow, then I got pulled over and he gave me that lame ticket along with the other little fix-it/citations. He says there was too much traffic to be going that fast, lol?
He cite you for the mods on your car to?

I was pulled over for 'speed unfit for conditions'(total bullshit, but thats another story), and they added modified exhaust, modified suspension(too low), and bald rear tires to my citation.

the fix it ticket is 25$ which covers front plate, tint, loud music etc. They went up from 10$ this year. Regular PD cant pull you over for just because you dont have a front plate on. They have to pull you over for something else. But most cops just make some bullshit thing up to pull you over. Like once for me it was for "speeding" even though I wasnt. He was asking me all these speeding questions and I was fighting bak and he was like "im not lookin to write you a speeding ticket. Wheres your front plate".

CHP can pull you over for ANY vehicle code violation. However, I have never been pulled over by the CHP for just the plate. But they do go out of their way to check to see if you have it just to hit you with as many violations as they can. Its an easy ticket to give out and its cheap.

I dont really care if you run a front plate or not. I dont like to and dont get messed with that much for it. Cops are cracking down on the front plate law for 2 reasons. 1). They need as much money as they can get right now. and 2). You cant get a ticket by a stop light camera, bridge toll etc, without a front plate. In order to receive a ticket (via camera), for running a red light, ditching bridge toll etc, is they have to have 3 things. Front plate, your face, and rear plate. THEY MUST HAVE ALL 3. Other wise the citation has to be thrown out. SF is littered with those cameras and cops are crackin down hard up there to pull people over without front plates.

If you get a fix it ticket for something you have 2 options. 1) you get it fixed and signed off by a cop and pay the 25$ fine. 2) you pay "bail" and you dont have to fix it. The fine will be bigger (back when the fines were 10$ you could pay 90$ and not have to fix it). I know a lot of cops who sign fix it tickets without having to get shit fixed so I just went that route everytime. I guess you could go to court and fight it for a 3rd option, but to me, thats fucking retarded for a 25$ ticket.

You dont even have to sit in front of a judge to pay it, at least here in norcal. You just go to the courthouse, walk to the clerks office where there is a bunch of windows (like the DMV) and you go up to one of them and give them your ticket and pay it off. Or you can mail it in. Ive done it both ways.

            I don't know.
The letter in the mail says $212.00 for the real reason I got pulled over, but doesn't mention the other little things that are on my yellow ticket. I don't know how it works, this is the first time I've been pulled-over/ticketed before and I've been driving legally since I was 15.

Okay. I just wanted to know because I'm going to be mounting my euro plate soon and wanted to know how much the citation was because the cops are dicks around here.

Dont listen to the cop when he tells you how much the ticket is gonna cost. Most cops just throw out a number. fix it tickets are 25$ for this year. Some say its legal to run the plate in the dash and some say its not. I dont think it really matters but I would run the euro plate with your CA one in the dash and see what happens if youre that worried about it.

Your logic makes no sense whatsoever. Probably wouldnt is another way to say most likely would not, or might not. It's not a for sure thing that you would be pulled over for not having it. So therefore you probably/might not/ most likely would not be pulled over for just the front plate missing, but you could be.
I took the time to write you a response and try to help you, and my response is very accurate and true.
Everyone knows in california you need a front plate no matter what the situation.

Thanks for the answers. Im just not gonna worry about it any longer as the ticket is less than a hundred dollars and wouldnt increase my insurance rates at all.

This is no regular car forum. This IS r3v. Also, by saying probably the speaker indicates a lack of certainty that I was attempting to rid by posting on here. So I can deduce that the speaker will provide no reliable nor palpable information and I can proceed to ignore his response.

When you get the ticket for not having a front plate, and you probably will get one soon because all the law enforcement folks are going broke. Report back and tell us how much it cost you. I recently bought a newer BMW for my Wife that didn't have a front plate even in the trunk. The PO tossed it. The ticket cost me $190. Go ahead and throw your money away if you want to just look cool, but California requires a front plate on the front of the car. Putting it on the dash is going to get you a ticket too.

I got a $105 parking Violation from the San Francisco Police Department on Saturday, for not having a front license plate. My family had gone 20 years without hearing anything:
                          -1992 Volvo 240, euro plate
                          -1983 Peugeot 505, euro plate
-2002 Volvo V70 XC, euro plate
                          -1991 BMW e30, euro plate
                          -2006 Volvo S60, euro plate
                          -2006 Bmw e90, euro plate.

Then..I got pulled over in April by a CHP officer pulling 50 in a 30, just to chase me down, in my parents' volvo, to give me a ticket for having our authentic Swedish plate in front, from the brief time our family lived in sweden.

Shit happens. I for one, am going to zip tie my CA plate to my grille next week, and drive up to SF, and try my luck. Whatever man.

The state of California is an all-time deficit, and they hell if I could be bothered.

The rule for california is really cut and dry. The plates "Both front and rear" needs to be mounted at the factory location from the manufacturer. It is nearly identical to washignton state.

I do know it depands on who pulls you over, state may be different then city etc. Some may issue a different ticket then others.

All that being said CA is our 3rd largest market. Pennsylvania #1 and Florida #2.

                            Thanks,

That being said, many who's car did NOT come with factory drilled holes in the front, STILL continue to get pulled over by Californian police officers. What if the state of CA was to switch to the system, similar to that of in Tennessee, Georgia, etc? Yeah, I know their reason stems back to some redneck confederate shit, but it could potentially help out state's terrible deficit.

I agree. I have seen so many high dollar cars with holes drilled in the front bumper to mount the plate at the dealer. However in Germany even if you have an Audi r8 you will have a front plate.
