        Sure you can run a little better fuel in it, but its not really necessary. The euros call for 91 octane in the M42 but they only calculate the RON. We here in the states average the RON and the MON for our Octane numbers. Just run the mid grade fuel to be on the safe side if you must. IIRC the rating for M42 on RON+MON/2 is a 90 octane. So yeah you should be on the mid grade fuels while stock

        Adrain is right about the BTU with the higher Octane Attained with higher concentrations of Ethanol, you will lose milage with the more ethanol in your blend you are running.

        Neo: Yes there may be some places that are still running 100% petrol, but its not the norm, most have the 10% ethanol in them,
        it says right in the manual to run premium for the M42. BMW wasn't stupid, they didn't forget that the US uses a different octane measurement than europe.

            fairly sure you can run it in a EFI car just not one with with CAT on it. I cant remember 100% though

              CATs and 02 sensors, the lead fucks them up eventually.
