    really ugly coating.

i had a header for my rx8 that was jethot coated. can easily withstand the high temps a rotary makes. it had a very nice matte black finish on it as well.

You can't coat the inside of the exhaust header for a turbo setup as the coating can flake off and be sucked into the turbo and damage the blades.

When I got the parts back the coating was like having some sandpaper bonded to the surface of the metal.

The coating is ugly because the metal got so hot the impurities started to seep out of the ceramic coating itself. That is what those little round bumps are in the picture.

I think the benefits of coating one side are outweighed by the potential issues with the header cracking (as you found out). I really doubt the stuff flaking off is *that* big of a problem. Sounds like urban legend.

That coating just looks bad all around, and when it gets dirty it's impossible to clean it. The polished "chrome" look may be cheesy, but at least you can maintain it.

That header is cracked so badly! Jet Hot coating seems to do a good job, however I don't know if customers had issues with their header after long or some time working.

The Swaintech ceramic coating is different than the smooth JetHot coating, I looked at both options and I chose the Swaintech one due to its performance characteristics. As I stated it does do its job as advertised.

The white finish does suck to maintain as any oil/grease from your hands just stains it.

More info on the White Lightning coating is here: http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10969

Would I wrap or ceramic coat a tubular header again for a FI setup? No.

I would do the nice looking JetHot coating on NA headers though.
