    I'm moving to Austin, TX.

I will be moving to Austin, TX soon. I'm shooting for mid to late May.

I will be traveling down the west coast via I-5S to Los Angeles, then heading east through Arizona and Mexico into western Texas.

The drive is 2,274 miles, and ~34.5hrs of driving. I expect my travel time will be quite a bit better then that though.

I came down to Texas (still here) to persue a job opertunity with http://www.terrysaytherauto.com/

I was offered the job. The shop is great, the cars they have just lying around are amazing. Definately as close as I will ever get to my dream job.

I took alot of pictures of thier 4dr e30 M3 touring, you guys will love that. I will post those in a seperate thread when I get a chance to dump them off the camera onto my laptop and upload them.

Congrats on landing the job. That is one fine shop, I understand. What exactly are you going to be doing @ Sayther?

Officially? I will be doing customer project cars, engine swaps, transmission conversions etc. But realisticly my talents are wide, and will allow me to do whatever is needed most from day to day.

Glad to hear you're pursuing your goals. So many of the slobs that make fun of you and say shit about you living with your parents will never travel more than 100 miles from home.

You planning on drive through north arizona or central (phoenix)?

You should swing down this way and have a mini meet.

Goto http://maps.google.com and enter 2 different driving directions.

Corvallis OR to Los Angeles CA is map 1.
Los Angeles CA to Austin TX is map 2

I will be going right through Phoenix it looks. I'm not sure about meeting alot of people, as I will be driving ALOT. A place to crash here and there along the drive for the night would be swell though :)

I know this is off the wall, but what kind of education do you have, Jordan? Just curious.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

Did you have to give them references, or somehow show them you have past experience with doing major mechanical work like that?

Dropped out of HS my senior year in NH, and moved to Oregon.

Got my GED here in Oregon, "graduated" in the top 98th percentile statewide.

The only major reference provided was the gallery portion of this website. That and I spent alot of time on the phone, emails, and then of course the day I was at the shop talking with Terry.

It not hard to seperate people who know what they are doing, and can learn/adapt quickly from those that are just not useful.

So are you trailering your e30 to Texas or are you packing all of your worldly possessions in it?

I will only be taking items that can fit in my trunk and backseat. The e30 will be moving me :)

I will prolly have my computer/monitor, large HT speakers, and my compressor shipped to me by my parents later on. Those items are just huge.

Have you already found a place of your own down there?
