Im mainly talkin bout all the unnessacary items like the trunk lid/tail lights/side mirrors. The staggered esms was probably the flag to get the car in the first place though. To OP sorry to hear about your loss.

When i had my s13 I used to remove the ignition relay when parked in areas i didnt trust.
I used to just open the hood pull it out and put it in my pocket. its annoying but it works when they try and jack it and the car doesnt start... i donno just a tip

Keep the car. Take what insurance will give you, but it back and reinvest the leftover$$$ into new parts. They didnt trash the car so most of the items should be low $$ to buy and bolt on. Anyaway, sorry this happend to you, but at least you didnt have to see your car being chased and r3v'd on the 6:00 news.

Also even if your wheels pop up your going to have a hard time proving they were yours unless they have serial #'s stamped on them. But that doesnt mean you cant take justice into your own hands.

This has actually saved one of my old work trucks 3 times!!!

I had a 94 F150 and everybody knows how easy the front corner pull-out windows are to get into. They just pop the window and open the door. Then they try to hot wire it and its pretty easy seeing how the wires are right under the steering. But pulling that relay worked like a charm.

Oh and as far as hot wiring, remote starts and car alarms that de-activate the ignition make hot wiring 10 times easier.

Don't mean to be insensitive but this goes for you and everyone else -> WHENEVER YOU DRIVE ANYTHING THAT MEANS ANYTHING TO YOU, OR YOU HAVE GOODIES AND SUCH INSIDE THE TRUNK OR WHEREVER, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALLLLLLWAAAYS PARK IN AN OPEN PARKING LOT, AWAY FROM LARGE CARS OR OBJECTS, NEAR A SOURCE OF BRIGHT LIGHT, AND SECURITY.
NEVER PARK IN A GARAGE THAT ISN'T MONITORED!

last bit of info... These cars are becoming jewels and are increasing in worth annually. To protect this investment always carry full coverage and some sort of gps or cellular tracking device inside. /rant
